I was digging through some of my dads old CB's and his old mic's and an antenna's, It's been awhile since hes drove OTR (he doesn't have a CB in the truck he drives now) maybe 15 years or more. I found two old rk56's, one is beyond repair I would say, but the other seems to be in working order, but is wired incorrectly for my CB and the mesh is pretty dirty, is there a way to get new mesh put on it and have it wired? would it be worth it at all?

Check some shops around the internet. Most sell just the mesh. They are excellent mics and if you can get one going for less than $20 you have yourself a deal!

The other one, was pretty bad, the mesh was dented and the lip gaurd thing ripped off, the switch didnt return, and the cord was cut. I Took it all apart, I didnt cut any wires but I just wanted to see the inside of one. I was a mechanic before I have a strange curiousity about how things work :(, I have a few other older mic's laying around with 4 pin cords on them that I could solder onto the mic myself if i knew which wires go where, I've soldered wiring harness's for vehicles before but never w/o a wiring diagram.

You can send it back to them. They will re-wire it for which ever radio you tell them to. replace the wire and put a new screen on it for you.

The RK56 is for sure a great mic. You will be pleasently pleased with it and it should not cost that much to have it fixed. If you do a search you should be able to find the wiring for your radio and do it yourself. Try CBtricks.com they have schematics for just about any mic/radio combo you can think of.

Also Killroy you devil you sure get aroud dont ya? Fellow Redneck Forum memeber wavin!
