I HAD over 15 years OTR...10 years ago! Now it seems I'm less desireable than a rookie fresh out of school! I'm looking for a solo seat that will get me home at least a couple of times a month with decent pay. I live in North Carolina, south of Raliegh.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Been off the road too long...

Welcome to the NEW trucking industry.
90 days out of school without a job requires a refresher.
24-36 months off...require a refresher or second seat. Regardless of experience.
Experience only counts if obtained within the past 12 months, for all intents and purposes.Grabageer Thanks this. -
unless you are lucky, I was able to get a short haul, local job, have been off the road for 26 years, got my CDL back in April thru a school paid for by W.I.A., took me till the end of August to get a job, but It was worth the wait

i'm kind of in the same boat i'v been out for 2 years taking care of my famly.I think they want the experiance but dont want to pay for it I have start all over again.I think becoming o/o may be the way to go.

Please hold all calls, we have a winner! Rates have been cut that sharply by the "mega carriers" over the years that now the only way to turn a profit is by paying a newbie 27 cents/mile.And if you have 14 years experience, but haven't driven for the past 12 days, you'll need a refresher course and then we'll consider you (at 27 cents a mile...)

When freight picks up if you have driven 3 months within five years old JB will hire you but not now. If you been out of the truck for over 2 years forget it right now. You got a better chance driving and landing a local job. MUCH better.
Grabageer Thanks this.
