    Hi everyone,

please stay with me till the end of this post .
Iam a fresh graduated CDL holder , 2 owner operators met me today , offering me a job offer to drive them car haul truck with anther driver on fixed route from Florida to New York once every week .
They explained themselves as partners on this truck ( one of them is non CDL holder & 2 nd is 4 years experience car haul driver but not driving at the moment because of his studies and military service)
They offered me 6 weeks up to 12 weeks of training of this fixed route to New York on them truck with the other driver they got (which less than 6 months experience) under the supervision of the experience partner which seem to me he will do his training to me through my days off in town or the phone.
May be iam wrong but I don’t really know how he will train me ! Wasn’t that clear to me .
I know that car hauling truck never drive backwards May be his training will be with loading and unloading the car haul truck ..
They confirmed that they are ending them car hauling business next month because they will send with me the other driver to pick up them brand new freight truck from Miami and they are switching them business to freight trucking business from next month.
    Here is the offer
    800$ a week ( Monday/Friday) for the first 6 weeks as 160$ a day .
Which will be increased after completing the training 6 weeks .
My concern that there will at least a month till they switch to freight business and I will be on training on the worst route ever for 800$ a week .
They drop the boom on the table expecting me to respond to that by what iam expecting and I didn’t know what to say because I know nothing about the pay !
I came to trucking because of money and at the moment I do food delivery in small town for 11 hour a day for at least 200$ a day .
CDL course and my expenses through my training month was expensive.
Can you please guide me through that ! What I should ask for ! I see car hauler drivers on YouTube speaks about 120$ an hour as owner operator..
please tell me what is the best to do or ask for from this offer !!
    Thank you in advance.

    Iam zero experience sir ,

You don’t see any good on this offer ..
I see 50% good as they are giving me the chance to put my hands to the wheel and 10% good that he will show me how to load and unload cars .
But I believe I still don’t know the risks and the difficulties of this duty job .

Every new CDL holder has no experience and many land at decent companies that pay legally, on a W2, not the other way on a 1099. 1099 you pay double Social Security and will have no Workers Comp if you get hurt, unless you buy the insurance yourself. Also will not be eligible to collect unemployment.

Grouch, Judge and Roadpilot2021 Thank this.

Car hauling is a pain in the arse, especially for a fresh CDL graduate, you are going to take at least 2 hours trying to figure out how to load the cars in the trailer. Go the dry van or reefer route first.

    WesternPlains and Roadpilot2021 Thank this.

    It smells fishy to me.
    Would you rather go OTR?
You could do food service for Sysco or one of the others. Very good job. Be home every day.
If OTR. I’d rather go dry van. Reefer can be Reefer Madness. Ridiculous schedule.
