I was sitting at Sysco foods loading dock and the truck driver beside me pulled out like a crazy man and his trailer caught the hood of my 2014 Peterbilt. The dude made it to the out gate by the time I chased him down on feet. No what’s killing me is once I called the police we both gave our paperwork. Well the insurance company on his paperwork claims the unit wasn’t covered on the policy number on the paperwork. And to add to that they claim the owner put insurance on the unit the day of the accident but after the accident.
Now I didn’t have uninsured motorist on my policy who would of ever thought anybody would hit me with a rig with no insurance. Now it’s going on 3 months. That I’ve been out of work waiting on my insurance to approve the repairs and this dude is going on with his business making money.
This is my first and only truck !! And I’m being treated like I did something wrong when I was sitting still !!! don’t the insurance go with the operating authority the insurance company that’s on the safer web suppose to be liable for any equipment running under that authority?
I’m about to loose my whole livelihood and nobody seems to want to help me. What about my loss wages and the business loss revenue we get nothing? And this dude company continues to operate?

Find a used hood and parts from a truck junkyard and use a credit card and get your truck rolling and making money again. Them worry about who is gonna pay for it .
Then find an attorney and sue the driver and company and notify the DOT that the company was operating with no insurance.and sue them for lost revenue. Sue them for the money you didn’t make because your truck was not operable.
Years ago I got rear ended by a another big truck on the highway in heavy traffic.
His truck was totaled and another vehicle was damaged also.
Cops show up and wrote a report ,
I couldn’t get in touch with the the ins co listed on the report. So I had a friend who was a cop run the VIN of his tractor to find out who the ins co was.
Turns out the tractor was stolen, and the license plate was stolen and the guys CDL was suspended months ago.
Evidently the cop at the scene didn’t run any of that info through the computer
I guess with no truck payment and no insurance you can make some good money trucking .
Oh, and you most definitely need uninsured and underinsured coverage on your policy.
i have never been hit by someone who actually had insurance.
last time I got hit was rear ended by someone in a brand new car, like three or four weeks old.,
They gave a fake insurance card to the cops.
Time before that was rear ended by someone with a suspended license and outstanding warrants, and of course no insurance .
time before that was hit by someone who blew a stop sign and had a fake insurance card.
Etc etc
The good drivers have insurance.
It’s the terrible drivers that don’t have insurance.Flat Earth Trucker, NavigatorWife, slow.rider and 1 other person Thank this. -
Don’t forget to forward accident report to his home state dot to let them he was driving uninsured
NavigatorWife, Rubber duck kw and Coffey Thank this. -
If you don’t carry uninsured/underinsured on your policy, that is 100% your own fault. Buy a hood and all the parts and pieces needed to fix your truck.
take the other guy to small claims court & try to collect, but good luck with that.
Now the meat & potatoes....Stop being cheap, if you can’t afford to be properly insured, sell the truck & get out of the business!!NavigatorWife and not4hire Thank this. -
Everyone is saying sue...chances are he doesn't have anything and will just keep on trucking; can't get blood from a stone.NavigatorWife Thanks this.
