    Hi,
I am not savy on the computer, to say the least. I want to first thank all of you sooo much for all the great info. My husband (who has never not worked in our 32 years,) was let go with 15 other guys last Aug.. I overheard a gal talking about how her husband was going to go with CR England, yada yada. After researching, and no other options, he went to Central Truck Driving School last Feb. 2nd. He went through the whole thing and is now a solo driver for Central. I have followed along this thread and enjoyed it beyond words. You are all so great and helpful. Big THANK YOU. He is now into his 8th month. We have one high school daughter still at home, one daughter attending UC Davis to be a vet, (thinking maybe it's too hard to be accepted to the vet school,) and one son who is married. We also have a miracle 3 year old granddaughter.
The job at Central has saved our bacon, even though there have been many weeks of -17.00, or 52.00 paychecks. Something is better than nothing. I work 12 hour shifts at the local hosp. which I do enjoy, but it is such hard work (CNA) and I am an old lady. We are letting our house go into foreclosure. We have raised our children and now after 23 years here, we need to pay less each month in order to help with college etc... . We also have way too many animals to feed. I have found a place to rent that will allow our animals (3 horses, 20 cats, 8 dogs, many birds, 1 hairless rat, and 1 chinchilla.) Our animals are all rescues and are family.
Central has pretty much done what they have promised. I have concerns that as the year mark approaches, and the tuition will be paid in full, will they try to get rid of my husband? They keep offering a lease deal etc... and he just kind of says "Yeah... sounds good but not yet." Lately he has had miles, but with a lot of stops.
I admire you ladies that have young kids! How hard not to have the dads home more often. How hard on the dads too. We asked our senior in h.s. if she was ok with dad being gone, or did she want that purple cell phone. She opted for the cell phone. She has no purple cell phone and no dad. Ha. I just feel that if we are all ok, then what's the big deal. There are so many people out of work now, and I feel so bad for the desperate feeling they have. It's such a relief to have made the decision about our house. Now moving after 23 years is another story. I am overwhelmed.
Also, has anyone heard of Northern Refrigerated Transportation? I see that they are close to us, along the pacific coast.
I have told my husband all about you. I keep telling him to look for JJ on the side of a red truck. I tell him that he has friends out there; he just needs to look. He has the disposition of a saint, he will help anyone even if he could be killed. He is quiet and will never complain. He sounds a lot like "Red Coat" from the Covenant thread. I nearly died laughing. He might have a beard and mustache now. It will be gray. He is 55 years old, med ht. about 200 lbs. Dark hair, mixed with gray. He has a great sense of humor, and since we don't give real names, ask him a code word, such as,"Did he get married in Kansas City MO.?"
Hope I havn't babbled on too long. I will try to contribute all that I can to help others. I used Grass Widow because my mother used to call me that because my husband always traveled with his employment. He never was gone like this though!

Thanks for the welcome Panhandle. I am certifiable as far as asylum goes. I love it. I thought as we reached our 50's (I'm 57,) we would be more stable and wise. The longer I live, the less I know! I know that for sure. You can call me GW if that's easier. Remember GW on the Waltons?

Good to hear you still have your eardrums intact :biggrin_25523:

Sorry to hear it wasn't all you expected and as Panhandle said, thanks for the heads up, so many come on here and then you never hear from them again if it doesn't work out.

Awwwww cmon the Vulva is a good truck:biggrin_25522:

Since we will be out over Christmas I don't want a blow by blow menu description unless your sending me some:yes2557:

Welcome to our Mad house GW!!:yes2557: I am always slipping up and using real names on here, JJ = John and I'm Jess Lol, tell your Hubby to say Gday if he See's us somewhere, we don't have the CB on much because all the #### on it drives me insane.

Good luck and remember if you complete your training you can deal with anything for a year.:yes2557:

Last night we had a slowwwwwwwwww drive through Iowa because of the ice, I counted 144 vehicles in the ditch, 25 of those were trucks, talk about make a person nervous:biggrin_2552: since I'm not real keen on the snow anyway.

Parked at a service plaza now on a 10hr break, JJ and I both have a nasty cold so we are two grumpy Biotches :biggrin_2559: in a very small place, oh wait maybe its just me who is grumpy LOL

I don't mind giving out my real name just never thought about it..........lolol so anyway I'm Sadie and my hubby 1badz28 is William aka Crashomatic............lmao he's gonna love explaining that one on here later when he gets home.

He picked up a load in Augusta GA this afternoon heading to Davenport IA I think he said. Anyway I know it's somewhere in IA he is going. He should be back home in a little while for another 10 hour brk before leaving in the morning for awhile I am thinking.

Swing by Jess you know I'll feed ya and take you to that Aussie store you want to go to. Phone back now?

OHHH-hhh.... I was going to say our names too, but what if we say something bad about the company? We don't have anything bad to say at this point, but what if we are job hunting and have a question? Do you think maybe you should remove your real names just incase? I am a worrier. Just say that one of the DMs see that someone is job hunting. Is it possible that he/she would not give that person good miles? There was one weekend dispatcher (her) that was AWFUL! She really s---t on my husband. Of course, he will get even in his own time, should the opportunity arise. Why make it easy to be identified? GW

I don't work for them I can say what I want. And I look at it this way 1bad was looking for a job when he found this one. I don't think his dm reads here I could be wrong but being on a dedicated he is guarenteed the miles.
