I need to start a “How to” heavy hitter school. I’ll just need 50% of gained revenue for however long it takes to hit 25k.
That’s half off for the first 5 customers.![]()

Fact is this:
We have been going through an exceptional period of profitable experience. Look at L.A. CA rates $10 000 to Boston, MA/3000 miles. When you play partial game, you can up it to $15 000. Even Phoenix, AZ pays $8 000 there too. Rates from L.A. CA to N.W. were $5 000 and more yesterday. That's all dry van. I am sure that reefers are at $30 000 and more in revenue per month, also flatbeds - or even better in recent months, with all that construction material boom.
It's been gradually progressing like that for almost a year. If you stayed active, with your equipment up and running, you were harvesting the best crops ever.
I am not a spot market shark and my next work load is this:
$700 / 40 miles short water run
$1000 / 150 miles short water run
$2000 - 600 miles IL - ND
$5150 - 1200 miles MN - PA then going home for $1600 - $1800 form Baltimore area
$10 500 on 3000 miles - (10 days with only 4 nights in the truck, intertwined with full and partial days)
At first glance, it would make more sense to go to CAL and take one of those $10 000 to North East but then you are completely OTR for almost 2 weeks.
I am trying to find balance between home time and maximizing revenue. Thanks to new HOS split berth rules, I am able to stop by at home an route from WI or MN then wait as many hours as I wish, so the traffic subsides and then at late evening proceed. It is quite something for me vs. be gone completely OTR.
You can get $25 - $30K of monthly revenue like that with a dry van, if you don't take too much time off. But you want some time off.
Therefore, I am projecting annual revenue be somewhere between $250 000 - 280 000. Then as a rule of thumb, after operational expenses (before you pay yourself) you get to keep more or less half of it. Although with these better rates, it may be more at 60%- 70% even.Scooter Jones, Dale thompson, jason6541 and 1 other person Thank this. -
If, after 5 months, an average Joe has this, then it ain't bad.
