I got my first tanker job hauling milk about a month ago smoothbores. I was wondering if there was any difference between how the different types of tankers, ie baffles and bulkhead handle in comparison to smoothbores.

You'll learn how to drive smooth to avoid the surge. Shift with the surge, in rhythym, ride the wave and its an easier ride. Learn how to pay attention out in front of you to go through civilization on all green lights, recognize and avoid the 4 wheelers that might make you stomp on the brakes when yer loaded, and how to drive on slick roads.
Easy does it. Slow starts, slow stops, slow turns. Yer Jake is yer buddy.
Multi-compartment trailers surge less, but they'll still slam you if you do something silly. Its just 2 or 3 or 4 smaller slams tho, instead of one big one.Just passing by Thanks this. -

Its not a bad thing to be a little anxious or nervous. Keep your eyes moving, avoid distractions, and drive the speed yer comfortable at. In time, it gets easier.

I always tell people: imagine running downhill holding two buckets full of water and trying not to spill... that's pulling a tanker kind of vibe
spindrift Thanks this.
