Ahh, yes... the fine art of the swerve. It works wonders, and quickly! One of the first things I learned as a rookie, and my trainer was proud.

I was doing 68 on cruise (maxed) and came upon some women late at night in a small station wagon. Went by her, and here she comes back around me again, then slows down. I am sure we have all had this happen to us. So I pass her again and try to go on down the road. Here she comes again. Pulls in front of me, then we pass a cop sitting in the middle just watching traffic. Well we weren't even speeding (70mph zone) but she lets off the gas and slows down to 64. I pass her again and hit the horn. She comes back around me again, the this time brake checks me. I swerve left and miss her, which I guess made her more angry. She speeds up and tries to cut me off while I am in the left lane but midjudges and hits my right front. She ends up in the middle, but not hurt. Turns out she had her mother and daughter in the car also. She requested her daughter be transported to the hospital (trooper told me she was fine) and called her the problem. They tried to sue several times with no luck. I suppose I could have hit an exit for a few minutes, but it had been a very long day, and I was only 40 miles from home. Just wanted to get there, and I was not bothering her. She instigated everything. I hate these people.

But this drivers tailgating would not look to good to the officer.

BEFORE dash cams, there were the same type 4 wheel drivers.
I've had a few "episodes" either in Granny or Hammer Lanes and when those "scientists" performed their "brake checks", I DID NOT BRAKE!! After a few of those Lessons, no more problem.

When I was needing either Left, Center (when/where availed), Right Lane, I signaled and would wait up to 30 seconds b4 moving into Lane. I was "NOT asking permission". Trucks crowding into Lanes with Blinky Blinky usually garnered attention (even those "drivers" that leave their Blinky Blinky on for 1 or more miles).
Sometimes an Air Horn Earnema (ear enema) was offered.

Thankfully no person or vehicle was injured.

I have always contended my blinker is not a request, it's a warning.
