IDK, Kemosabi, you're a sharp person, if someone came into your business with half a dozen jobs in a short time, in any field quitting for whatever reason, I'm not sure I'd want them in my employ. I think companies today look at the bigger picture, not just your last job, like years ago.

I have had maybe hundreds of conversations with people that make hiring decisions from 10< to 1000> truck operations. I can sum them up on this topic rather easily. EVERY Carrier has situations we can call the good, the bad, and the ugly! No way around this. Drivers that constantly "job hop" show instability. I spoke to a guy that operates a small carrier based near Roanoke and he told me simply he wants drivers he can depend on. He closely looks at job history and if you show this kind of instability he refuses to hire you. Further, he said he had rather shut down, sell the equipment than being forced to hire this type of driver because the stable ones don't apply. Trucking is NOT easy. Regardless of the type you do. YOU MUST take the bad and ugly with the good. If a driver has a history of job-hopping this means they can't be trusted. I won't hire you either. If this means I can't find drivers then I will sell and get out of the business.

If I was hired, and you had no work. I quit. That a trucking company would use that as a reason not to hire you is an insult. Most Megas are over A 100% turnover rate

If a carrier complies with 391.51 THEY WILL CHECK. The consequences that result from an FMCSA safety audit of the carrier DQFs that show they are at best not complete can get expensive. Further, this information is also available to an Attorney once a lawsuit is filed and they seek discovery.

I have said this many times now on these boards. In almost every case when the FMCSA does a safety audit they bring with them a list of drivers pulled from the CSA data. One of the first things they ask to see is these DQFs. WOE be unto that carrier with these files that are not in FULL compliance with 391.51.

While I am on the subject of 391 compliance let me tell a story about what happened to a small carrier based out of North Georgia about 5 years ago. After a fatality accident BOTH the FMCSA, as well as the Georgia DOT, paid them a visit. The records pertaining to 391 were in shambles and this cost them some $$$ AND they were given a short time to fix them or face losing their operating authority. Using what records were there the FMCSA auditor that worked out of their Atlanta service center went back and checked some of the information. No gaps were accounted for and several drivers had lied on their applications about Job history. To make a long story short the FMCSA themselves checked for carrier and driver compliance with 391.23 and they were fined AND the carrier let the driver go. While I am sure there are smaller carriers that won't check, on this, I am in full agreement! I doubt, however, this is NOWHERE near 50-50! The best course of action is don't job hop. As I said before, EVERY carrier has things that are good, bad, and ugly. You keep chasing for that perfect carrier all your doing is creating a bad job history that at some point IS GOING to catch up with you!

Why? I have very long hair and didn't have any problems. My only concern was I dye my hair and was unsure if that created any problem with a hf test. Apparently it didn't. That said, I haven't smoked anything 'green' since 1981and don't use any other drugs I shouldn't. I do take a small plethora of prescription drugs, but none that are in a category that interferes with a CDL.

I’ve given up the green because I know I won’t get far in life while smoking. 2 of the jobs went out of business so how was that my fault?? & the other 4 (if one paid more/better benefits) am I not supposed to level up with my job?
