Oil Change Prices

This may have been mentioned somewhere but why are you paying tax?


I’m paying $499 for Rotella or Delo semi synthetic with fleet guard oil and fuel filters plus grease job. This is done on site at my yard and also a 100 and some point check list to make sure everything is working correctly.

No tax though. In my state it’s an ST-105 form.

 

Trucking isn't exempt from state sales tax in every state.

 

9 gal oil, filters and 2 grease cartridges.I guess around $170. I’d have to check the filter prices.

Oil (11 gals Delvac bought in 5 gal containers on sale at rush truck center) CAT 3406e
Filters CAT (I buy them in pairs)
Grease 2 tubes RednTacky

Oil $105.60
Filters $84.50
Grease $10.00
Total $185.10

Satisfaction level when you tighten down that last filter and fire the beast up = Priceless

This time I also replaced or replacing all 6 shocks
Both Air Filters
Two Airbags
All four air charge silicone connectors/clamps
Found an air leak that doesn’t leak when running, will start leaking once there is a bite of a pressure drop in system and slowly leaks down.

Need to really pressure wash underside of truck. I will soon as I have some big things planned in future if all does well.

 

Do you guys that get oil changes at places that pump out of a bulk tank actually know what you are really getting?

The ones that can decipher the different smells and colors of brands of oil know what I mean.

Pay for Rotella and it doesn’t have that usual “Rotella smell” the first 1000 or so miles but it came out of a bulk tank labeled “Rotella”

Golden West and others go into local bulk tanks all the time marked “Rotella” or “Delo”.

Something to think about.
