If you search my name, I have lots of posts about trucking, OTR, Companies in Canada, and most recently Local/Regional/LCV and Vocational Trucking.

I've been an O/O since 2018, my Dad was part owner of 2 trucking companies in the 70/80/Early 90's. So I've seen quite a bit, when it comes to keeping a truck/fleet going.

I would say, look into a Union/LTL job (UPS/FedEx/XPO) or Food Service. If you want Highway work, Federated Coop/Costco/XTL. OTR really isn't an option IMHO.

I personally wouldn't become an O/O, until the supply chain has recovered. Right now, you can wait 4-6 months for a set of injectors or a DEF pump. The cost and availability of tires is insane, and fuel is all over the place. That being said, now that I'm doing LCV as an O/O, I love what I do, and will prob do it the rest of my life (I'm 38).

I drove for 8 years from about 2000 to 2008 I left the industry for a service job. I am going back to trucking next month as a company driver then in a year O/O. I miss the open road yes people cut you off. Drivers can be rude etc. But you can make NET $4800 to $7000 as a company driver and as an O/O $10,000 to $14,000 a month. Never felt like work when I drive it’s a great industry

Why do you say that OTR isn't an option?
