I am waiting to here from prime.Icall them back wenesday at noon.Already have my cdl from driving on the farm for the last ten years. so i have no otr experance. she said i would be gone for three to four weeks at six hundred aweek. have i made a mistake or have i took one of the few options for new drivers. and i hope i dont get a jerk for a trainer any thought are welcome

It's a good place to start - beats the heck out of most of the others. Training pay is $500 per week for the first month, jumps to $600 or 12cpm over 6000 mi at the 1 month point - that's better than just about everyone else at that level. We have a number of shippers that we pick up from in the Jonesboro area, plus more down the road in Little Rock... so getting home shouldn't be a problem for you.
I've driven for Prime for over 2 years now, and am pretty happy with the place. Opinions about Prime vary, so you'll hear some negative comments too. -
How do they handle fuel stops for company drivers/ Is it mandatory or choice?
-
Does the company driver have mandatory fuel stops or choice of truckstops to fuel?

When you are out for the four months after you have your CDL, is there any home time in there?
-
Yes, dh passed his CDL skills test on 11/23/09 and he's coming home for Christmas.
At orientation, he was told not to expect to go home for the first 8 weeks, starting from when he goes out with an instructor. He could have come home for Thanksgiving (4 week mark), but even though he was sitting there at the Campus Inn waiting on his trainer to arrive, he was getting paid and if he came home...no pay. So we went up to SPRIMO and spent Thanksgiving there.
