Old time flat-bedder told me he used a cord on every other grommet to limit how far the tarp could move and tarp straps alone would let if move too much...
Gee, that was in 1992. Now I watch all the guys bringing in lumber to the place next door with tarp straps on every grommet. Seems we are going backwards here.
Got a landstar broker in trouble today!

thank the story mite be turning against him.

I do also understand the OP wanting to maybe avoid a claim in the future too. Ive dealt with Landstar CS and if you tell them something is "unsafe" then they aren't gonna go against you to try to sell you it is "safe"
Dave_in_AZ, slow.rider and truckdriver31 Thank this. -

What's the difference between them? Ranger, Ligon, BBK, etc? I've done open deck with each one.

It's not that I don't like them per se, it's just that they cause me so much grief. Like the time I booked a short load that was posted for Saturday delivery, which I booked specifically because it delivered on Saturday so I could fill out the weekend, which I also did, booking myself out for another week, then I show up at shipper Saturday morning to find the gate locked and nobody home till Monday.
Never mind all the covered loads they leave posted.
feldsforever Thanks this.
