I know we are required to have a fully charged fire extinguisher on the truck, but is it a "park the truck, dont move it till you get one" Out of Service violation or just a fix-it ticket?
No fire extinguisher = OOS violation or just a ticket???

Do you hve the regulation to substantiate that ? Are you telling me if an LEO sees a driver use his fire extinguisher he'll put him OOS until he manages to get another one ?
-
-
the proper correct size is a 2A10BC rated fire extinguisher, most people have the small 2.5lb size fire ext in their trucks, these only have a 1A10BC rating and to get to a 2A10BC rating usually requires at least a 5lb of dry chemical in the fire ext. though, i have heard that if you have 2 of the small ones it will be good enough.
-
i know i had 2 of them in my side box and got a ticket for them not being mounted (secured)
-
they have to be mounted. and they prefer the ones that have a guage versus the popup valve.

Well, 2 conflicting answers. Imagine that! 2 truckdrivers that cant agree on something, I bet that has NEVER happened before.
Maybe 1 of our LEO contributors can offer their expert opinion and maybe cite the specific regulation as well??? -
Pops got a fix it ticket. Years ago though. Been compliant ever since.
