Dunlops! Who runs them and what position? I've read all the tire threads here but not enough info on Dunlops. Was considering Goodyears. Local tire shop can get me around 4500 for all 8 OTD but I want to do a little more research on other brands first.

Dont know for a semi truck but i didnt like them on my pickup. Got a set of winter tires and they did worse while new then the cheap worn old all weather hancooks i had in terms of grip and didnt last a full winter before they started to come apart even though i was purely on asphalt.

Our spare tractor has a set on the steer, I have no opinion on them one way or the other though as the truck doesn’t get driven a whole lot, probably 10k on them in the last few years, they go down the road fine though

Never had a Dunlop on my Truck. Almost bought a set of steers at the T/A because I had an unexpected road hazard. They were very cheap and on sale. They were out of them. Only thing in stock were Bridgestones. Got the best Bridgestones at the lowest Dunlop price. Lol. It was a Lucky break. I personally would consider any tire for the right price. $4500 seems a bit steep. Rather not get Dunlop’s, or Goodyear’s. Recently saw an O/O who obviously had too much money to spend, take an almost new set of Goodyear’s off, and put new Bridgestones on. He claimed they had no traction, very squirrelly in the rain. They probably just needed to wear in a bit. I would have bought them, had he not already made a deal with the Truckstop. My experience is they are a soft rubber, and wear quickly. I had one Goodyear wear excellent on my Trailer. Hard to say. Firestone Drives are a good value. I prefer Firestone all the way around. Bridgestone technology, at a lower price. T/A had a sale on them recently. Sale ended yesterday. Always be another. Everyone’s got their favorites, based on experience. My preference is Continental, (Premium General), Bridgestone, Firestone, Yokohama, General, in that order. Price being important, Firestone’s usually win out. I try to avoid Yoko steers, and all the Goodyear’s, Kelly KDAs were also a disappointment. One thing to consider is getting a replacement easily. Firestone’s seem to be everywhere. Great Truck tires. I’m not above a set of Chinese Drives. If the price is right. They’re all about the same. Bridgestone copies. Wear is about 75% of Domestic tires. This sale ended June 30th, add $20 for FET, $65 for mounting, $10 for stems. ? Local taxes. Right about $4000 for the Firestone’s, maybe? Plus $25 balancing if wanted. $4200? I think any closed shoulder should do well. You get what you pay for. I think Dunlop’s or Goodyear can be found for less than $4500. Especially if your running 295/75/22.5s. All the other sizes are getting hard to find. I’d rather have something readily available. Mainly because I once blew out a brand new Yokohama. They were new to Truck market, at the time. Couldn’t find one. They ended up giving me a new tire for free. Those were great Drive tires. Second only to the 2 sets of Continentals I’ve had. The latest Chinese bargain Double Coin Drives at T/A don’t look very good. Cheap tread. I’d stay away from them. I look for overall value. Gone are the days of 8 premium Drives for $2000. Now you have to catch a promotion or sale. Or you’ll pay $5000 easy. I think you can do better than $4500 for Dunlop’s, much better. The Firestone’s and Bridgestones in this add were a bargain.

4500 is steep on the Goodyear’s. I put a set of Goodyear Marathons on yesterday 11R24.5 at 3350.00 out the door. New stems and spin balanced

I had a pair of Goodyear steers that were real decent. Their drive tread looks different than most though.
Doealex and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Dunlop is elcheapo Goodyear, put 8 on a spread axle, like every GY, I tried before all cupped. All the excuses bearings, king pins, shocks, changed nothing but to all Michelin and all cupping disappeared.
