Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Looking for a good OTR company.

Been off the road about 45 days to take care of my sick wife, so I don't need a refresher course. Notice that it is 10 days before Christmas and I am seeking employment - that should tell you that I am really looking for work.
-
Evil Cap, sorry to ruffle your feathers. This isn't the best of times to make demands when looking for work. A good many companies are decreasing the pay rate as well as benefits etc. Trucking companies are very choosy lately. 5 years ago, you could make those demands and pick from many companies. Not so today. You have to balance between your pride and reality. And the reality is don't be too picky, if you want to work.

45 days off may still be tough, but you never know. like allow me said, this is not the best time to make demands, if starting for .32cpm for a few weeks/months is what it takes, then youll just have to do what you have to do, sorry to hear about you wife, and hope is all well now...

Anyone who is willing to work for $0.32 a mile is insane, and you are the EXACT reason why carriers in this industry can get away with paying that. They know there are guys out there, who are just "thankful" to work, even if its for a very bad rate. Sorry, but people need to stop kissing toes and being so thankful just to come out here and drive trucks around...get it together.
I have been driving for 2 years. I currently make $0.41 per mile. I am thinking about leaving my current carrier because they treat everyone like crap. They screw you around, starve you for miles on purpose, the dispatchers play favorites with drivers, and they expect you to say "OH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LETTING ME DO THIS AND FOR YOU TREATING ME LIKE CRAP, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EMPLOYING ME!"
WRONG!
I will not kiss anyone's toes for any mileage rate, you respect me as a good operator, you show that with your attitude, your equipment, and your pay, and if you do, I will respect you as a good employer whom I would be loyal to in any situation.
It saddens me to see great operators with years and years of experience, getting the same mileage rate as everybody else. There are 30 year drivers at my current employer, who get the EXACT same mileage rate, as me. I feel I deserve $0.41 a mile, no question, but I know a lot of guys who deserve $0.70 per mile.
Somehow, some way, we must abolish all these 2 bit companies and there 2 bit drivers who are willing to drive for 28 cents a mile, 32 cents a mile, all that crap, enough is enough. Do you honestly like working all those hours and taking home such little pay?
Truck drivers need to fight for more pay, per mile, not more miles. Everyone is so concerned with "well how many miles do I get, how many miles" Your goal should be to do less miles for more money, not the other way around.Evilcapitalist, Beechvtail and Zaroc Thank this. -
Have a question for you. Since you wish to run all 48 will you consider a company out of the west coast?
-
Yes, of course.
