I'm switching some drive wheels between my parts truck and my active truck without a jack, and a very bad idea occurred to me...
What if...
...instead of parking the truck on 2x4s just so to get a drive wheel set in the air (which is what I've been doing)...
...I just keep cranking the trailer landing gear until it lifts the whole drive wheels of the truck up in the air by the 5th wheel?
Is this idea as terrible and dumb as it seems and a sure way to kill the 5th wheel? Or is the 5th wheel designed for these loads?
A very bad idea? (Using trailer landing gear to jack up drive wheels)

It won't work but you'll never learn this, you nor anyone else has the strength to crank on it in low range for that long.

In my rookie days, I cranked a 44000lbs trailer up off my drive wheels after forgetting the landing gear and stupidly dropping it. In Florida in the summer.

Better just keep doing it the way you have been. Might want to chain the axle up to the frame first, if you have air ride, or next job will be new air bags.
