The court date isn’t even until September 9th? That’s months away! You’re panicking way too much about this. First off what state did this happen in? Secondly that’s still 6 weeks of trucking you’ll be able to do! At 44cpm you should be able to make $5,000 by that time if the company is any kind of decent.
The question you need to be asking is if $5,000 is enough to hold you over until you can find another temporary position? If not then it’s time to panic. However I’m not kidding CR England & Central both hired me with a Reckless on my record 8 & 9 years ago. Here’s why they did:
If you can’t get a lawyer to get it reduced. Then the process I went through is a last resort that will work, but you won’t be able to switch companies easily if you go this route. I decided to take the Plea in abeyance offered. I know… I know it still goes on your record as Truck Driver. However… by doing so I was offered the chance to get it expunged after it was settled. If it was just that officer involved. So there were no witnesses right?
That means it’s his word versus yours. You won’t hear from him again after accepting the PiA. So you’ll call the court a week later, play dumb, and explain that you didn’t know a Plea in abeyance would show up on your MVR. That’s why you took the Plea offer instead of fighting it. They will discuss the matter, and after realizing there was no plaintiff in the case. Decide that you are eligible to have it expunged. It is not an easy process. They will try to ignore you, but keep calling it works.
I promise the squeaky wheel really does get the grease. You’ll become better acquainted with the Burreau of Criminal Investigation. The Patrol headquarters in that state, and the DA then you hoped for.
However they will ultimately grant you this expungement (if it is your only traffic violation on your MVR). You will then show proof to any company thinking of hiring you. It will work you just won’t get the best jobs right off the bat until your MVR clears. That might work to your favor later on with your DAC showing loyalty.
I showed proof to these companies that I was working on getting it expunged. Both hired me as a result right off, and May offered me a position days later as well. The time to be upfront with someone is with them. They’re pretty desperate, and they’re SELF INSURED. That makes a huge difference. Plus it’s your ONLY Ticket correct so they know you’re the type of driver they want. #### happens they know this. The question is will they see you working to clean the #### off, and take a chance? Or will you leave the #### as is & blow it leaving your best shot with western or Carolina forget the name of it. They’ll hire anyone though. So worst case scenario you still have a job brother.
I just got a ticket need advice!

I have contacted a lawyer I found off google that works out of NC with over 200 5 Star reviews that only charged $100.
He stated my citation isn't Reckless Driving and is only a common speeding ticket which is good news. Apparently the laws out of NC is up to the officers discretion on what reckless driving is. He believes he can get it completely off my record because of how clean my MVR is.
Now all I have to worry about is getting through school which so far hasn't been very difficult (I did allot of studying before coming here)kemosabi49, Bean Jr. and Solo Soul Thank this. -

Don't even worry over leaving your other job, focus on your trucking, you can always deliver food in the worst case scenario. Don't worry, you will be able to eat, so just relax! I am eating fine.

And if they want more than $100 , pay it ,
The attorney will know how to keep it from showing up on your record
in my state you can have the ticket moved from the local jurisdiction to a state court.
in the local court the cop and the prosecutor and the judge all work for the city or county that desperately wants the revenue. So what’s the chances you’re gonna get treated fair?
If you move it to state court , then the judge and prosecutor work for the state and the state gets the money if you are found guilty .
The greedy money hungry podunk town doesn’t get the money.
plus the odds of the cop showing up in state court are much lower because it’s usually further away and the court date isn’t known weeks and months in advance. -
