I have a 3406E 5EK . The fan will not turn on with the manual switch or when the temperature gets high. The fan solenoid engages with the key on and the fan will be on. As soon as you start the engine the fan solenoid shuts off. The relays and fuses behind the dash are good. Everything functions as normal until you actually start the engine. Any help would be great.

I have not confirmed the high temperature with ET while operating the truck. The engine warning lights came on at higher temperature with longer pulls. For example ET would show 180 degrees and the gauge would show 150. The manual override has power until the engine starts. One second after the engine is started, you can hear the engine fan relay click off and the switch loses power.
I also noticed the wire that powers the solenoid is labeled 220, there is a wire zip tied to the harness by the thermostat housing that is labeled 220. There are two sensors on the thermostat housing and each sensor has a single wire to it. One goes to the gauge and the other goes to the ecm I’m assuming. -

Thank you for the replies, it’s very appreciated. I saw there was a sensor with a single wire on the upper portion of the thermostat housing and a sensor on the side of the thermostat housing with a single wire. I never noticed any other sensors with multiple wires, but I will have to do some more looking. I did verify with the key on there is power to the engine fan switch and power out of the switch. The part that I find odd is that the power is lost to the switch, fuse, and relay as soon as the engine is started. Could I be missing a switch in the air conditioning system that is causing the malfunction? Or possibly a bad wire coming out of the ecm harness?

You’ll need a wiring diagram for your truck body as well. You’re gonna have to follow the wires and check them all. What’s your truck make and year, I’ll try and find that diagram for you.
