RECEIVE KIT ? well yes and no .....
Many radios use a 2sc1674 transistor as a rf stage in the receiver.
The kits have a 2sc2999 transistor to replace it with ... does it work yes it does. It will increase the receive by one "S" unit which is a lot on weak signals.
I DO NOT beleve in " tuneing " receivers on 99% of CB radios and if a radio is this bad it needs to go back to the factory ..... -
Get a better antenna...Forget the "Receive Kit" deal. Just spend some money on a good antenna.

I have a galaxy DX99V and what to get the most outta it can some one tell me the best way to set it up.I'm new so talk to me as if you would a small child.Any help would be great.

Send it to Al at Sparky's CB Shack and let him tune it for you. Get yourself a good antenna and mic and set them up with a real low swr and you'll be good to go.moreaujeremy Thanks this.

I'm thinking this guy you're runnin with has his mic gain turned way down and maybe doesnt know it?

I Agree check into a good antenna but " TUNEING " radios is nonsence just a way for a tech to take your money.
If you want more power get a amp that will work with your radio a 100 watt amp is under 100 bucks .....moreaujeremy Thanks this. -
You can't actually think that a "stock" out of the box radio performs at full potential do you?
You take your stock radio and I'll take the exact same model tuned radio and outperform you any day of the week with it.

Remember, He's one of those guys that think that the factory knows all and nobody can make the radio work better than the factory...Absolute nonsense!!
There are a lot of radio butchers out there but if you find a good "tech" he can work wonders with a decent radio in spite of what these guys say.
All you have to do is listen...Stock radios all sound weak and fade out within a mile or two but a well set up radio without an amp can be heard for many miles... -
I agree with jesse james, get a good metal antenna, think they range from 25-100$ er something? 25$ one is good enough.. get a good metal antenna, dont use your factory coax cable and make sure your connections are good and snug at both points(cb and antenna)/swrs are set and everything is grounded..thats all I can think of......anyone else? and as the above guy said find a good tech and have it peaked and tuned for 15 er 20 bucks. I had a bearcat untuned with a fiberglass antenna, was barely gettin out over a mile if that, went and bought a galaxy and had it tuned(altho a tuned bearcat is just as good) and bought a metal antenna, I was talkin 5 miles and spent under 175$
