I’m guessing you are sticking to a low carb diet?
    I follow one my self.
Many dietitians claim that diabetes can be cured with the elimination of carbs/sugar from the diet.
Our bodies were never meant to live on sugar at all but the standard American diet is almost pure sugar now.
Sugar is very damaging and addicting to the human body.

Avoid sugar, focus on high protien foods. Drink water instead of soda. Your body will take some time to get used to the lack of carbs but it's great for both weightloss and a1c. I'd suggest reducing carbs gradually because you'll feel really tired/drained for a few days to a week if you suddenly stop them and that will interfere with daily activities.

The keto diet is perfect for managing diabetes.

All the talk about loosing your cdl in this thread is pure nonsense.

Their is a waiver and a process to keep you trucking even when on the needle.

That’s absolutely ########, you keep your numbers in the guidelines which are extremely loose or easy to do and you get a 1 year card.

I've had little success on low carb diets. They have been hard to stick with for more than a month or so. Then again, I've had the same problem with nearly all diets.

Type 2 diabetes is generally considered to be progressive and irreversible. So not only are you likely to fail your next a1c test when it is taken (and then be further tested with a glucose tolerance test to confirm the diagnosis), but it's eventually going to kill you if you don't get it under control. Because the drugs and other conventional treatments for this disease - perhaps with the sole exception of metformin - are (IMO) all dangerous crap. The only real hope there is for remission, and it's still not a certain one, is to cut WAY back on carbohydrates and to take off the internal body fat that is almost certainly choking both your liver and pancreas.

    I'd recommend:

    1) Watching this short video -
    2) Researching "Non alcoholic fatty liver disease"
    3) And then perhaps reading a book or two by Dr. Jason Fung

GL, I'm fighting being "formally" diagnosed with diabetes myself. And as you already seem to know, you are getting close to the borderline.
