I see it differently. More of a marketing scheme. Let's look @ DAF's parent company Paccar. Two engine brand choices around the globe. With the Cummins, it is not cookie cutter software calibrations for the engine and aftertreatment management. Calibration is for specific truck details like cooling package, air management, and aftertreatment arrangement. Hardware on other hand is same across all makes for most parts. So if driver breaks down in MX powered unit, you are mostly stuck finding Paccar dealer for parts or service. With Cummins, you have a variety of options on parts and repairs. Seems like everyone and their brother has Cummins Insite to aid in troubleshooting. Good luck finding many people with DAVIE to work on the MX.
