Dan Rather Reports 12/15 ?

I would like to see this as well, i think the name of the episode is "Mind your loan business", but i haven't been able to find a web page that i can view it at.

 

I watched it. It was quite interesting. I say that because of the complete ignorance of some of the students he interviewed. They all believe that trucking is still a solid profession and has not felt any effects of the economic downturn. At least that is what I gathered. Some of them are there out of desperation....I feel for them (not much, though)...but jeez....they need to do some research. Pick up any trade journal, go to any truckstop, visit this Board and they would know otherwise. This is a clear cut example of how desperation can breed ignorance. They all believed they would be making 40-60 thousand in the first year.

The owner of the school Dan was pinging on pretty much increminated himself on camera. At one point he indicated he was not in the business of providing loans to his students, then when questioned he talked himself into a corner. It was readily apparent the he was uneasy about the whole thing and even asked to have that portion of the interview stricken from the show.

When Dan investigated further, he discovered that the owner does in fact own a financing company and that company holds the notes on several of the student loans...most of which are in default.

Bottom line is those people got themselves into the predicament they are in because of their lack of research and understanding of what they were getting themselves into. Lambs to the slaughter, I say.

...and that crook of a school they went to is only ready, willing, and able to take advantage of there desperation.

Thanks for the service you guys and gals provide. I am looking forward to joining you once I transition from the Navy.
