Not hiding, just working driver lol fortunately the miles and home time are good enough here that I don't have time to check this that often. That's a good thing!

Thank you. Yep these APU are finicky!

You all are not going to believe this!
Just 6 hours after I pull out of Fremont shop my truck broke down again!

Coolant coming out of the hoses from the APU system. I tried closing those two main valves and no luck... I’m dead in the water!
Can’t turn the truck on and I can’t turn the APU on either. Temperature is hot... windows down and starting to fight with mosquitoes and other Creepy bugs that want to eat me!!!

Stuck at a ramp on I-435 Kansas City, MO
Speaking with brake down... nearest service to maybe come... about 5 hours away.

Waiting for break down service to call back.
I just can’t wait until I get home next week! I will jump out of this truck so fast that I will put to shame... “The flash super hero” when he sees my speed! Lol

That's no good....there are several shops in the KC area, don't understand the 5 hour wait, coolant hoses aren't rocket surgery. Time to grab an Uber and a hotel and hide the key so the wrecker driver can get them. Good luck!

I had those heater hoses on my start leaking out in Utah and I shut those valves off but it didn’t do no good. There was a hole in the hose . I was able to get the truck to Kenworth in Saint George Utah and they repaired the hose even though I have a Freightliner :D . Dam… sorry to hear the bad luck ! Try to smile and say CHEESEEE

Do you have an APU Tripac? That's what I had when I was OTR when I got a brand new 2020 International. I had it for 1.5 years and it only broke down on me once or twice. I just made sure to get regular PM's done on it and it was fine.

Is it common for APU's to break down? Like I said my APU Tripac was awesome with very minimal breakdowns, but then again it was brand new so maybe that helped. Or maybe I just got lucky.

My carrier APU was a money pit, over the four years I had that truck, I basically had the APU rebuilt part by part with all the repairs I needed, and even then it didn’t cool like it should.

It was complicated the hose that broke didn’t permit the use of the APU or the engine and even when I closed the two valves.

    Update....
I was loosing the battle against the mosquitoes and creepy bugs after sunset so I decided to close the windows of the truck an hour later the mechanic shows up grabs the the 9 inch hose that cause all this fun day...(A clamp! cut the hose it was over tight and installed incorrectly from manufacture).
Mechanic went to get hose at Freightliner came back install put in coolant made sure all was good and done. He said cost would probably run around $700 (For service, coolant and a 9 inch hose).

This adventure took until almost midnight but after such episode I turned the APU and went to dream world.

My APU has had a front seal put in the motor a new Generator I don’t remember now how many alternators and the belts have come off numerous times then The inverter shorted out and took out everything The shop put a new inverter in it and replace the box inside by the sleeper and the other box under the bed
And that inverter didn’t work so they put a another new one on .
