Get it no matter what. Tanker and doubles too. If you dont use them, having them anyway doesn't hurt anything.

Dude, there's lots of mountains in the east. Believe it or not, the most mountainous state in the nation is actually West Virginia. If you're going from WI to GA then you're going thru Chattanooga, and guess what else? Yup, right over a big fat mountain.

While they're not as tall as the Rockies, the Appalachians do tend to be steeper. In fact, that mountain by Chattanooga has something most Rockies don't have: a mandatory stop at the top to check your brakes. So yeah, you're doomed.

    :p

This company is in NW Ohio and do free training. Running regional so no west coast mountains or north east. Guaranteed minimum pay every week. They run trainer trucks on solo runs.

Paid CDL Training and Finishing Program | Entry Level Truck Drivers

The main bad thing is short runs usually nothing more then 500-600 miles because the are regional. They have driver facing camera. Not sure what going on but the main training class room guy with 16 years at company is not working for them anymore. He is in all the videos on recruiting and setting up new drivers.

I will say this the areas you mentioned especially Cali I can almost guarantee that they will send you there for shipments, especially as a rookie once you get your own truck and that goes for alot of trucking companies.
