    To Whom It May Concern;

Beware to anyone who wants to get involved with the Lease Purchase Program offered by JB Hunt. My husband and a few of the men he kept in touch with from his orientation class for the Lease Purchase offered by JB Hunt are all being taken advantage of, and as of now turning in or already turned their trucks back in after a mere 2 months. Loads being taken from them after they accept them and given to company drivers, being told to switch to the .90 cpm loaded 36 cpm empty forced dispatch program so they will make more money., and get off the percentage. That might be so if when after they convince these guys to switch to mileage that they gave them good miles but no, instead they send them on bull crap city load runs getting 35 dollars a load, or more empty miles than loaded. Because they are forced dispatch they have to take the loads, and once they get off the percentage board they can no longer go back to it. And if they refuse a load they get dropped to the non forced dispatch of .85 cpm loaded and .36 cpm empty. And the longer they stay on percentage the less loads they get and when they do get one it pays badly, now and then you may get lucky and get one that pays an average of 1.20 a mile if you're lucky.

My husband did not switch to the mileage however; he did the math (and has run percentage to long) and by talking to other drivers knew what would happen to him if he did. Unfortunately for them they did not have the same advantage. However, we are still behind on all of our bills and told by his dispatcher that he does not believe that no paycheck for 2 weeks could cause us to have our lights to get a cut off notice….. Excuse me but if someone comes to you from another job does that not tell you the other job was not paying the bills? So if the bills were not quite up to being paid in full then YES 2 weeks without a paycheck will give you a cutoff notice from the electric company. Then he had the nerve to tell my husband “well you had a zero mile week, why is that?” He had a zero mile week because THEY KEPT HIM SITTING!!!! They keep their company drivers moving believe me, and IF there are any leftovers they dish those out to the lease operators.

One of the guys who was on percentage (before JB Hunt forced him to go to mileage by telling him he complained about the rates to much, so either go on mileage or never be happy) got one of the shippers to tell him how much the load he was picking up was paying. The shipper told him the load was paying around $2500.00. JB Hunt says that the lease purchase drivers who get percentage get 57% of the load so tell me why was this man getting paid under $700.00 for the load? 57% of $2500.00 is $1425.00. JB Hunt rips you off, BEWARE. Please do not get yourself involved with JB Hunt, save yourself and your home!

I contacted OOIDA and we were told only to get out while we can, that there are no federal mandates for lease purchase programs..... this is so wrong.

I don't want anyone else to wind up losing everything.....:biggrin_2557:

oh almost forgot to mention that if you are within 100 miles of a terminal do you know they want you to route yourself to the terminal to fuel up at the terminal instead of at a truck stop? how stupid is that??? yet are they willing to pay the out of route miles? NO!

There are tons of drivers that get indoctrinated into these golden fleeces. I say indoctrinated because many of these drivers will absolutely fight you over the value that these fleeces bring and say you must work the fleece for 2-3 years before you see the benefits.

Moths flying into the light I say. -It's very hard to help these indoctrinated people when they absolutely believe in their golden fleece. Much like a drug abuser -they must bottom-out first until they are able to accept help and make a change for the better. I wish there was a better way for intervention -but many of these fleecers believe they don't have a problem and that you are the problem.

Unfortunately this sad song keeps getting airplay.
.36cpm empty?? If your on % you do have to eat the d/h but you're supposed to be able to make that up with decent paying loads, you give up that opportunity by going on a mileage program......and they still expect you to take it in the shorts on d/h?
Tell your husband to RUN away from this.He can go get a company job and make more money and get benefits.
    Best o' luck!

To all lease purchase, leased on, Independant operators.
Everybody, call OOIDA, ask what you can do to stop this sorry company and all the others carriers and brokers ripping us off, destroying lives.. Call your Congressman, tell him/her of all the Govt charges and taxes we HAVE to pay, and if you don't pay, you don't play.
The government regulates us with stealth, safety etc etc. It's time they regulated what is a bare minimun rate that allows us to run legal, keep our equipment in top notch condition and carry home a pay check commensurate with the hours we work. As for all you "market force" decides the rates people, I say your living in la la land. Prove me wrong.

He already Turned his truck into the Atlanta yard 2 days ago. and we have already gotten ahold of OOIDA, and their advice to us was the same, "Get away from them as fast as possible", They also told us to stay away from ANY lease purchase program out there offered by ANY company because there are NO federal mandates for lease purchase programs, There is NOTHING we can do... Unless we can go through the contract and make sure there are NO loop holes at all in JB Hunts favor as far as the pay goes, there is nothing we can do at all for all they have done. Thank you all for responding. I just don't want anyone else getting burned.

I am sort of amazed that the DOT even allows these Fleeces. But then again I am always amazed at what hoops the company drivers must jump thru.

=I only see the situation getting worse until drivers start speaking up. Expect 2010 to be the "year of the fleece"

Hello new friend. I hope you do get away from the scum of the industry without getting dinged. When I got my authority JB called and offered me a deal. "Pull our trailers and get 65% of revenue". But, you need to get an extra $1,000,000, liability and $30,000 trailer interchange. Hell, I would not give you $300 for any of their junk trailers.
"Yeah right", I said. I've already been to the prom with you butt holes and please lose my phone number.

I wish you well. I don't think they are aggressive with cancellations because they have had thousands of them since they started this crapp back in 2001. They would need an army of lawyers to keep up with it.

excuse me put its pretty obvious you cant make money at 90 cpm. That said, the company knows that and its downright evil that they do it to people...

what was the percentage paying anyway?
