I find it amusing that people pull reefer for 2.50 a mile to the truck and think it's good money. I average$4. $9 during the busy seasons.

I am an owner operator under my own authority. I would suggest working for a company while saving for a truck. If you buy new even with amazing credit and financing it, you could be paying 3,000 a month on top of insurance. There are much cheaper ways to start.

Im leased at a 90/10 split company.
I have my own plates, fuel card, and bobtail ins.
I paid $1100 for ins down payment, with carrier.
$350 week for ins with carrier.
The situation works for me but I cant say that its the best for you.
When I compared to the larger 80/20 carriers that included all of the cost the numbers were similar in the end give or take.
    I prefer the smaller outfit.
    YMMV good luck.

    Gtrucking Thanks this.
