What are you talking about? I don't even think you're trying to comprehend anything I'm saying. I've never said anything about things having to be free. You're not interested in having a conversation evidently. I don't really see how wanting to see people make enough money to eat and lay their head is liberalism. I certainly want everyone to do well by their standards. I don't want everyone to be rich or equal. I still want to see that there are things to strive for. I believe in equal opportunity but not equal outcomes. Now if everyone made livable wages and they still can't make it work, I'm out of that conversation.

I think folks should start by finding a job, if its not good enough, maybe a 1.25 or 1.5 type of job. Not just sit back knowing there is a nanny going to sit them down and sign them up for everything under the Sun. Now. I would like to put this to rest as far as banter around in this loop. You feel that assistance is the first choice for people. I believe that it should never be. When I was a young man in Texas, it was next to IMPOSSIBLE to get unemployment. Why? They had slightly less jobs on their jobs board than they do today. So, it took all of about 5 mins to get your unemployment claim denied. We need to do that again. Especially now. Have you looked about job openings in memphis? We can't just sign people up for lifelong benefits, and thats what they are. There are millions of people retired on disability that are Frauds too. I don't know what to say to people that feel like there is no bottom to the money resourses. Those dollars go to people my age or older. People retired and people getting ready to retire. Not to people that just refuse to work. Age 18 to 55. Anyways, I am sure you will say they can't work because they are addicted to pot, or meth, or fentanyl. Or the police are at their doors, they are going to prison/jail whatever. Who's fault is that? Need to sober up then, right? Gravy train is shutting down. That's all I am saying. Or, at least it needs to, but we need the support of people like you to be honest. People that hold down a job. Winter is coming, are we supposed to just keep on paying people to stay home and get even deeper into their problems? Slipping further and further into mental illness? Its even mentioned in the Bible, "those that do not work, do not eat" Time for people to get out of the pajamas and crocs, Look for a job. Stop complaining. Its getting old, and thank you by the way. The country is soooo divided because our youth think they should retire at age 25, I guess. Thats when they need to start paying back for all the laziness, taking the wrong classes in college, using, trading, selling drugs, or whatever criminal activities they got themselves into. At least you got and have a job. Right? A lot of people are afraid to speak out against public assistance, they know its wrong, but they are thinking socialism is going to rule, and they want to play that side. If that happens it won't much matter about alot of things, everyone will lose then. Well, Again, take care. Try to get people to work when you are on your hometime there in memphis. Have a good evening.

There are all kinds of jobs. Maybe not exactly want people want, but they have to TRY. Not first thing complain. Geez. I wish there was half as many jobs as there are today available to me when I was 18-55 as there are today for people on whatever assistance they are on. There is NO Reason to sit in memphis or portland and say you cannot find a job. Its ridiculous.

Anyways, done done with this thread. Have a good evening. I need to go for a while. Have a good one, God Bless you. Say your prayers, ask for forgiveness, before you go to sleep. That's very very important, especially now.

You’re thinking multimillion dollar corporations. I’m thinking the small business that makes up the majority of businesses in this country, where the owner more than likely isn’t getting filthy rich on the backs of his labor pool, and doubling their annual payroll would probably put them out of business.

I’m just a guy with a truck, I don’t have the answers. But it wasn’t that long ago that the answer to Seattle’s problems was a $15 an hour minimum wage and there’s no way that you can live in Seattle on $15 an hour.

The small businesses I don't have the answer for. It's kind of a catch 22 in many ways. There are some small businesses that can keep up and pay their people. Others, probably not so much for reasons unbeknownst to me. I don't really know what the answer is but I don't believe its necessarily a one size fits all. Now the big corporations, they have no excuse. You're right about that 15 an hour. That does nothing in Seattle.....hell that does nothing anywhere anymore.

In the 1970's a truck driver or carpenter could support his family (wife and four kids) on an income of 5 or 6 thousand.
It's not that things cost more, it's the dollar is worth less.
Once people loose confidence in the American dollar the economic system will collapse.
The con in con-game stands for confidence.

I'd also say for those small businesses, if they have to hire some help, they better make sure their product is good enough to draw enough revenue to take care of his/her employees. At some point, those employees are going need to make more money and that small business may not be able to keep up. I certainly had to leave a smaller company and go to a bigger company for those reasons. The company I'm at isn't a mega but they have "mega abilities."
