How much does that cost? I can afford it, but don’t want to get sticker shock. Did you buy new or refurbished? Also, I don’t count rebates, they’re just a scam. I still haven’t gotten mine from about 5 years ago and I did everything correctly.
Since drivewyze “upgraded” the detour option is ridiculous as well as alternate routes.
We are on a dedicated route pulling ups trailers (contractor, leased to a company). The routes change occasionally. One stop is in Addison, IL, plus other runs have brought us through Chicago. The 290/294 is just getting worse. We’ve recently discovered the 355 just by looking at a map. The gps doesn’t even consider it.
Thank you for the advice, I will be looking up the Garmin shortly. We used to have a garmin but it broke (it fell and I stepped on it) and we never replaced it. I don’t think we had that model though.
On a side note…..any newbies reading this, still don’t completely rely on your gps. Watch your road signs and if the gps tells you to turn on a road and your not sure, either move along or stop and look at other references. -
It’s not a dumb question and 8 months driving in not experienced. In my run this week I have seen 4 roll overs and a prime truck in the median ( he didn’t roll over, but he rolled off the road). 2 of the roll overs were on off ramps (they were going to fast).
You must have light, low loads for your “trainer” not to roll over. WV roads are no joke and I wouldn’t do what I do out west in some of those roads. My go to speed is 72, unless the limit is less. I know how to control my speed. Going nilly willy down grades is reckless and dangerous to you and others.
It is good that you are concerned, because you should be! The truck is monitoring what you are doing. If you get into an accident it will be recorded that you were speeding. If that accident takes someone’s life, you will go to jail.
Is this policy your trainers or your companies? -
Something to consider as well, is that most tire ratings are posted at 75 mph, so going over this speed for long periods will have a impact on your tire wear and tear.

I got one more thing to say then I’m going to shut up….When I say 72 is my go to speed, we are pulling fairly light loads. I’ve been through WV many times hauling heavy flatbed loads and barely making up the hills. I would certainly not go 80 down the hill.

Your "co-driver" is an idiot. Get out of that truck NOW !
