The latest med card supercedes the first one.
I imagine nearly every driver has had two med cards at once unless they only go for a new physical *after* their current card expires....and their CDL is no longer valid.
If you are currently in possession of a valid med card what are you going back to either doctor for? Just be aware that most companies will want you to do a physical when you get hired, valid med card or not.
More than one medical certificate? is this legal?

Most important the second one is complete and should be the one you send to your state to keep your CDL current.
or the 3rd one if you are given another by a carrier; then send that one to your state. You need to keep your state current.
One guy came here with 2 cards but only the older one was registered with the state. He continued thinking the 2nd one was good and ignored the CDL downgrade letters until his was downgraded long enough that his only option was to start the CDL process over... -
Yeah, I've heard. Sadly, truckers aren't respected like they used to be. I've always had respect for truckers and what they do since I was a kid. I'm now 50, tired of dead end office jobs, and ready for something new. I can handle the lifestyle change. Just trying to get my foot through the door and get things rolling.ncmickey Thanks this.

The reason for going back was to keep my options open with Roehl. I think their DOT examiner doubles as the company examiner, since they are paying for it. I just decided to pay out of pocket for a second opinion that I could use with a different company. I assumed Roehl wouldn't accept the card I now have and would still make me go through that first ME.Redtwin Thanks this.

Doesn't the examiner file the certificate with the FMCSA? I read that on another site. Unless you mean when I show the card to the DOT when going in to test for my permit.
-
Give THIS FMCSA webpage some time! You may find a lot of good information there! That link to the state-by-state process is over 2 years old. Maybe somebody knows of a more current link?
-
Thank you, so much! No one mentioned this to me. All I knew was that you need to take your certificate when testing for your permit.
-
permit, yes that's he one. Once you have completed the CDL process, you need to send the updated Medical certificates to keep your CDL active.
-
I looked at that page, and I see what you are referring to:
Non-CDL holders are not required to self-certify or submit a copy of their ME Certificate to their SDLA.wis bang Thanks this. -
Right, the newest med card takes precedence.
