There's a whole lot of beef moving out of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, etc going pretty much everywhere in the country. Return loads to the West can be more problematic, but a reefer trailer can also haul most dry van freight too, if you are careful not to take loads that make the reefer smell bad. Look into coca cola syrup loads into Denver, for example. In the winter they want the syrup protected from freezing. Frozen seafood from the East coast to the Western states is a possibility too.
Anyone know of any Reefer lanes?

I’ve seen some potatoes loaded loose in the back of Reefer trailers in Canada is it similar in the statesTeam818 Thanks this.

Ive hauled hundreds of loads of bulk potatoes that way. Very common practice for potatoes going to processors. They unload them by putting the trailer on a tilt table and tipping the whole trailer up in the air like an end dump.
Another way that some places unload them is with a special conveyor belt that has a belted bucket the width of the inside of a trailer. The belted bucket slides under the potatoes, belts pull the poatoes to the center and onto another belt that goes out the back of the trailer, directly into the processing facility.motocross25, Team818 and stacks Thank this. -
in Europe they have trailers like a dump trailer but with a conveyor belt the potatoes just roll of the belt, yes sir your right with the truck being raised in
The Air on
A hydraulic ramp and the doors opened so they slide out of the back of the reefer ,Cattleman84 and Team818 Thank this. -

Yes to certain areas. Places that make chips, fries and potato salad. They put the trailer on a giant lift and lift it to about a 45 degree angle to dump.stacks Thanks this.

Someone told me one time they hauled potatoes and at the receiver they plugged his drain holes, flooded his trailer and floated them out. Is this a common practice? I didn’t know enough about the subject to call BS but I have my suspicions…Farmerbob1 Thanks this.
-
Yeah I've seen it done that way before... I dont think its as common now days as it may have used to be.Farmerbob1 and motocross25 Thank this.
-
That's actually a pretty clever way to do it. Never seen it done that way though.
I suspect that the method was REALLY hard on trailer frames, suspensions, tires, and sidewalls. It would take thousands of gallons of water in the trailer to float a load out.Cattleman84 and motocross25 Thank this. -
That would be a Spudnik.
Cattleman84 Thanks this.
