They’re>their. Also, what is the best company to drive for then? As my outstanding pay, ridiculous amount of time off, excellent equipment, and laid back job apparently is lacking. Also, when did you work for WM again?

I’m stating a fact that there are many companies from one who is Pay is right up at near or above Walmart and offer darn near the same type of benefits… Walmarts pay by the way is by far not the highest in the industry anymore… you take offense to anything anyone says about Walmart… SMH…I got a friend of mine that does cryogenic co2 loads and makes six figures and he’s s home weekly…everyone knows many co’s have caught up to Walmart …

You can't compare Walmart to tanker jobs, Walmart = dry van. Walmart and UPS are like the top tier jobs in the dry van world, tanker world is a whole different ball game.

Well sure he can compare. The question wasn’t about top dry van companies. The question was about top companies period. Yeah, tanker hazmat is gonna be better then dry van but the other poster said WM was the top trucking company. I work there for now and I’d say, no they aren’t the top company. Yes, great pay and ridiculous time off…but that’s not all there is to life. Their equipment is new…but it sucks unless you like all the beeps and nanny devices they have on the trucks. If you like an automatic that has no balls and has the manual option deleted…yup great equipment. They claim they only hire the best of the best..but they continue to treat their drivers like rookies in many ways. And from what I’ve seen of some of the drivers…not that impressed. Starting to look like any other mega carrier out there except we wear uniforms lol…smh.

    Yeah
Yeah they are starting a new long haul division. Not sure where out of - it’s still in the pilot stages from what I understand. But it’s supposedly coast to coast runs, company team drivers…

Couldn’t have said it any better myself lol. Wish they backed up their “best of the best” propaganda and actually stepped back and let the supposed best drivers in the industry do their jobs without babysitting every step of it. If they did, I’d still be there.

I was talking to a buddy of mine who hauls tanker in OK and I was venting and saying some stuff about the “best of the best” and he cut me off and said “wait a second! Our company has a sign I’m looking at right now that says WE’RE the best of the best” lol…had a good chuckle but it’s true-just propaganda to make a driver feel special for a minute.

Best of the best drivers are ice road truckers, I should know I was one until I got laid off thanks to covid. Real handy to have on the old resume, gets me job offers and questions because of that show, although I think that show was up on Canada not Alaska where I was working.

If you've ever hanged around any truck stop, you'd know that if you tell any flatbedder that walmart has the best drivers he'll laugh at you. Dry van and reefer drivers have the lowest reputations in the industry, it's like sand box and pneumatics in the oilfield, go to any oilfield facebook page and you'll see pictures of sanbox guys pulling uturns and getting stuck.
