are you serious? they actually tell you where to fuel?

this means that under the law, he was not an independant contractor, but an employee. You may be able to sue based on that, but not for much..probably just their part of his taxes.

No - you can fuel wherever you want - it's your cash.

If you want JB to send a PO for the fuel - then it has to be one that accepts PO's.

I would try getting on with a smaller company that's been around for a while. The big box companies are a like, just different colored trucks, same MO.
Do you have a couple of years experience? If you can stand reefers and grocery warehouses try Howell's Motor Freight. They are based in Roanoke VA and have a terminal in Atlanta. Get home on weekends. Nice people to deal with. Tell 'em Croc Dundee sent ya.

Well thats a bunch of crap. You cant live on that. I knew the per mile setup wasnt a livable wage but never asked about the percentage. :)

I worked at CRST and drove with one of their O/os for my training...they paid 70 percent, allowed you to reject any load for any reason, and most of their lease AND company drivers were going broke. The percentage was fine but they were selling $10,000 trucks for $30,000, a new owner/op should never pay that much for a first truck in the first place, and plus most of their loads were crap. My trainer had to reject 3 loads for every 1 load he took. You had to know what you were doing to know when to reject loads, and you had to reject most of them to make money. Always loads that would cost you money to run. I've talked to a lot of peopel who tell me "OMG you cant ever reject loads or you wont make money"..."thats because that load will get you somewhere with a lot of freight!" ....these were mostly loads that would cost money to run and were coming FROM high freight areas. Come on. :/

My husband used to work for CRST, on the 70% and he was a trainer as well. He was doing very well there, he too knew when to reject a load, and believe me, he rejected some loads with JB. But you do have to take a cheap load now and then if the load is going to get you out of a bad area into a good one. And sometimes you have to take a cheap load to cover the fixed expenses (truck payment etc..) you might not get rich off it, but the next load you take makes you money becuase the truck expenses (fixed ones) have already been paid by the cheaper load that you broke even on. But yes, they are wrong on the fact that you have to accept every load. No you don't. do the math see how much you will make a mile on it, figure in about how much you think you will get miles per gallon, and other expenses if you have them, and see if it will make you money. The only time he ever really had trouble with CRST was when he did not have a trainee. My husband was only about 5 months from finishing his lease and paying off the truck he had with CRST, when he had a mild heart attack. He had a blockage which lead to stents being placed. His Cardiologist said he was good to go back to work after 2 weeks, but of course D.O.T says you MUST be out 2 months. He went on medical leave for those 2 months from CRST. When he went to go back..... they made him start over a new lease and a new truck.......... no more 5 months away from owning his truck......:biggrin_2557::biggrin_2557:

As far as Lease Purchase goes, DART seemed to be the only company that didn't try to screw him. But he had to leave them for a bit ( we had no medical and since he had a heart attack he has to have a new stress echo done every 2 years) because his stress echo was expired and we had to try and get him some insurance (through the state) to get the stress echo done. They needed info he didn't have in order to go back to them, so he thought, but is back in touch with them now, lets see what happens......

we have to many bills piling up here
    wish us luck!!!!!

PS. Then again it's not really a lease purchase with DART. You buy your truck through Highway Sales and DART just pays your payment through your paycheck for you. But you can only get a truck through Highway Sales if you are guaranteed hire with DART. Another good point with DART.. They pay you as soon as you deliver and scan your paperwork in for each load. So payments are taken out by the day and not by the week. So we would really like to get back with them. Was so easy to calculate what paychecks were going to be........... ahhhhhhh paychecks..... haven't had one of those in a long time.......... i sooooooooo wanna pay my bills lol

yup i'm the wife........ can you tell????? lol

I could tell you were the wife when you were talkign about the HUSBAND silly.

Yes, you do have to take cheap loads sometimes, but you dont take a cheap one from a high freight area to a bad freight area. The people that get screwed by CRST were taking every load because "omg its to get me a good load", but the real reason they were dispatched on it was because CRST cant make money on that load if they have a company driver do it, but they dont CARE if an owner op makes money.. :p Im sure you could tell that by the loads he was complaining about having to reject!

heh, yesterday i was at the werner terminal in indy and had to get a mudflap put on. It's a "Fleet Sales Inc" mudflap (which is where you buy your truck from if you do a fleece with weiner). When they sell em they take the weiner mudflaps off and put these on. lol.

But, you have to admit, $30,000 for the trucks from CRST is awfully shady, dont you? They're worth $10k at the most. :) IMO, scrap value after the way CRST company drivers drive...

As far as dart, i couldnt deal with having THAT GUY on the back of the trailer. Ugh. So goofy looking!
