Help please.
Truck shuts down on its own randomly. Engine protect light comes on or flashes when it triggers. Sometimes it will keep running and sometimes it will shut down and not start for a while, but eventually will always fire up. Does not set any codes that indicate any issues so that's why we think it must be a wire supplying power to ECM or similar.
Changed ECM, all relays in PNDC, crank sensor, cam sensor, coolant sensor, fan relay, oil pressure sending unit, front engine wire harness, and power from battery to new harness. Took apart all ground wires and fixed anything that didn't look good. Changed dash cluster. checked power block behind drivers seat and still acting up. Don't know where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated.

I had an issue one time I had an inverter that was causing mine to shutdown. I don't know if you have one I was just putting it out there. I also had a problem on the driver where the wires coming from the battery to the power the cab underneath by the air tank had a loose connection. Electrical problems can be the worst to diagnose at times. I hope you find your issue.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

When you looked at the ele. box behind drivers seat was it wet and and any green on the relays prongs when you unplugged then, does this problem only happen after a rain, because the ele. box behind drivers seat is a known place for a water to leak and make those F/liners to act up and go hay/wire?

If it were the ecm power or ground wire, the dash check engine lights and buzzer wouldn’t work. Sure there’s no stored yellow flash codes? Any that might tell you something? Red flash codes are active, yellow are stored. Sure you know that already. I’d take a real good look at the ecm power wire from battery, and the 5 amp inline fuse, and fuse holder. And the small ecm ground wire to the frame near battery. Sometimes it doesn’t start, sounds like somethings getting hot. Maybe feel the breakers when that happens, along with the wires, Sounds like you’ve replaced everything already. Maybe the hard start is a separate problem, but same cause? I’m just guessing, maybe check the starter solenoid on firewall, they’re known for wires breaking. Pretty sure they only control the starter though. Ignition switch and wires running to the solenoid also. Maybe a loose or broken wire somewhere. I had an old Ford Cabover once die going down the road. Ignition came unplugged! For some reason, I thought about it, plugged it in while still rolling. Hope you figure it out. No codes, usually ecm power, timing sensors or fuel problem. Other sensors should throw a code, whether bad or a broken wire. Somethings getting hot somewhere.... maybe!
