It is also difficult to consistently run 3 dollars a mile or better freight if you have certain areas you avoid like the plague, looking at you every city over a couple hundred thousand people, and also trying to be home every weekend. If you don't have a particular area you're trying to stay in it's a lot easier to see big money.
Midwest Trucker, God prefers Diesels and Last Call Thank this. -
Not defending Schneider here, but $/mile cost is a bit different if they are paying insurance, trailer, tags, fuel card........
Roger McG, AModelCat and Rubber duck kw Thank this. -
Even with that...there is little consolation.
insurance 10-20c a mile less
trailer: 6-10 c a mile less
tags: .2 cents a mile less
anything else(?): 10 c a mile less
fuel card...everyone can find their own discount card

lesser costs of 28c - 50 c per mile.
My today's trip booked on 360 JB Hunt app $3800 on 690 miles ($5.50/mile)
Backhauls from there (on Friday) already pay $1400 - 1500 (2 dol per mile) but will came up $200 by then...
So we are looking of 3.80 - 4 dol per mile both ways on 1400 -1 500 miles, which is consistent with what others are reporting as well.Oxbow and Brettj3876 Thank this. -
The thing is that it is exceptionally good week/month so far. So by the time someone leaves Schneider or JB Hunt to get their own numbers...the exceptional times could be already gone. That's the risk.... Nobody knows how much longer...Probably until the inventories are enough satiated and the truck/trailer/parts are not so scares any more.

It’s inline with what I’ve been getting for months.. Just backing up your reply in case the OP thinks you’re blowing smoke.
I don’t really obsess over rate per mile, my concern is always about daily revenue. Total of the rate con divided by days on the truck.
My sweet spot is $1,700-2,000 per day when running. Of course there are jackpot days lately here and there as well as the ones you just got to do to get onto a killer load.Big Road Skateboard and Brettj3876 Thank this. -
What would be your cost per mile e.i. fuel, tolls, tags - excluding whatever you pay yourself, or any maintenance escrows they might require then?
-
That's impressive less than 2% empty miles. My empty miles are 50% this week doing the same load daily. About 25% empty miles yearly
Dax shoot for 1200 day minDAX_ and God prefers Diesels Thank this.
