Ok, my question is how much is FSC? In actual money terms. Or if % terms, please explain, or give an example. Any other examples like based on 6 mpg. $1.50 per gallon etc. please Splain it to Me.
Midwest Trucker Thanks this. -
1) including all house and truck expenese's, what do you need to make weekly?
2) what is your work ethic? Are you a out 3-4 day type or 3-4 week type?
3) take what you make now and add we will say 37% for taxes.( just a random number) and ask is that enough for you to do it?
A lot of people want to buy a truck and lease on somewhere. And I strongly encourage it. I don't, and I've mentioned this a few times. Ever encourage any one to start any business. If they can't currently balance there books. Because when you buy a truck or a lawn mower to start a business. You just bought more financial agervation.
Every one should know somewhere there cost per mile. But the pay per mile is extremely different. I will put my self out there so you understand.
We can't have kids, so my bills are already less than some one who even has a prego woman never mind one two or three youngins. I have no car payment. No truck payment. I do have a house and land payment.
So what I need is less than what some one else needs.
Depending on where you are in the country vs where you are willing to drive. Will honestly tell you what the rate per mile for that lane is.
Coming out ofCali pays way better than coming out of maine or Maryland.
I am a leased operator. I'm not nor do I ever think I could make it with my own numbers. I need a weekly check. But on the land star load board. There is between 1.60 a mile up to 4.65 a mile. For where I run.
From what I'm told this is rare. So don't bank on anything over 2.30 a mile for long term math. -

I incorrectly thought the answers would be more like.
Abc trucking $1 per mile, loaded . Yada dada trucking $1.25 per mile loaded and empty. Xyz trucking $1.35 per mile plus fsc.
Myself personally have been an owner op for appx 30 years. But i always worked with van lines, doing bed bugging, trade shows, and other hvp, spec com.
This year busy season has been an anomaly. One of the best revenue wise, while also one of the worst aggravation, and bs wise.
Consequently on the mover sites, i have seen many other 10-20-30 year vets. Quit, look into, or make plans to quit and go haul all kinds of freight. (Van, reefer, flat, od, expediate, sprinter vans)
Seen guys go everywhere from land star, schneider, xpo, malone, Chicago flip flop companies, to home daily hauling containers.
Just about all of them are paying percentage. Which is wonderful NOW, while rates are up. But we have all seen rates go up up up and also come crashing down.
So like i said was curious to see what the per mile companies were paying.Rideandrepair, 86scotty and feldsforever Thank this. -

The rate per mile varies so much because company ABC pays you x and deducts all expenses, insurance, plates permits, etc. Company DEF pays y because they "pay" for plates and permits and deduct the rest from you. Company GHI "pays" all expenses except fuel and maintenance/repairs.
Regardless if you are paying deductions on your settlement or not, you are paying for those expenses..
Not to long ago I argued with a guy on the canadian forum that thinks he has a good gig because he doesn't have any deductions on his settlement beyond fuel. He had no clue what those expenses work out to. In the end I was making .25 to .30 more per mile after paying what he got for "free".bzinger and feldsforever Thank this.
