Hello everyone,
I started a new job with a mega carrier recently and was given a truck in which the air dryer constantly purges every 30 seconds. 1st time I took it to the shop they replaced "the entire system" not exactly sure what that means, but it still had same issue after I left for next load. I also found out that the previous driver before me had the same issue with the truck, took it to a shop to have parts replaced and still had this issue afterwards. I took it back to the shop and now the head mechanic at the terminal is saying nothing is wrong with it that it is normal for the air dryer to blow every 30 secs and that nothing is wrong with it. From what research I've done the air dryer should definitely not be blowing every 30 seconds and is most likely an air leak. All the while my dispatcher is pressuring me to still get loads to receiver on time and is now telling me since the head mechanic says nothing is wrong with the truck his hands are tied.
Any advice on what I should do now (besides quit)?
Thank you

Find the air leak. Show the mechanic where it is, or quit.

By pass the air dryer.

If it’s an air leak and every 30 seconds it should be pretty easy to find but these new trucks have a lot of plastics and all those small leaks are hard to locate but combined add up to a larger leak

I've tried spraying watery soap but havent found a leak. Then again I'm no mechanic so not sure if I've sprayed all the right places

Quit the crap mega. It’s only going to get worse.

are you maintaining pressure? is the purge line blocked? can you adjust it yourself?

Change the filter on air dryer.
For idiot head mechanic, tell him if it didn’t do it that way when truck was new, it shouldn’t be doing it now, there is a problem, or were you sick that day in mechanics 101?nredfor88, ibcalm19 and Speed_Drums Thank this. -
If its kicking the compressor in every 30 seconds and the primary/secondary reservoir pressure does not change, its a leak somewhere between the compressor and the wet tank. Or on the signal line to the governor.

Cover your butt with the report. If the company gives you crap about it, ignore it.
When you can't make air, stop the truck, call the company and tell them you can't move because there is no air.
