I remember making a rookie mistake like this. there were 2 semi trucks in front of me taking the same exit. I just assumed they were both going to the same truck stop, so I just followed them without really thinking and zoned out. by the time I snapped back into reality I realized they passed the truck stop and the road we were on was 50 miles of tiny farm roads. took like 30mins to get back on the right path

Not sure of the reason. But sun eruptions are said to affect electronics. Airlines have to recalibrate often.
