Yeah, it's an option...guess I'm just not flexible on my driving style...I don't know. Basically the other company was "regional" if I wanted but still an otr truck and I could run longer, request destinations, etc. But I just freaked out giving it enough time to adjust my clock, etc. Plus the insurance and parking.
Maybe I have to give it a shot this next year.
In any case, I'm really regretting leaving China. That really was the life over there. -
I think I set a personal record today for sitting in traffic. The delays just kept blending into each other.
MIT Thanks this. -
East Coast Warehouse!! Nothing else to say.

I decided to take a part time job driving job shuttling trailers between a factory and a warehouse separated about a mile from each other. Right near my house.
Today is my first full day and around 11:45am I dropped a trailer at the factory and decided to eat my lunch before heading back to the warehouse.
I started hearing lots of sirens off and on. My boss called me and said to stay where I was because there was an active shooter in the area of the warehouse and our entrance is blocked by a swat truck.
The arrow points to that driveway entrance.Attached Files:

Yes me too. I work there again Friday.
I have since learned that the police responded to that area for a call. Someone was shooting at them out of a window. They shot back and killed the person and there was also some kind of standoff that followed. There was a helicopter circling overhead and I counted at least 4 armored vehicles staged in our parking lot when I left work. We left early because of this situation.
I retired as a detective from that police department in 2014 after doing 21.5 years. There has been a 95% turnover since I left with retirements so I only know a handful of people anymore. Most people are getting out as soon as they can.
As I mentioned a few months ago when I stopped driving, I had taken a part time court officer job that a lot of police retirees take. I could have done it immediately upon retiring but wanted nothing to do with it at that time. I was hesitant to do it now and I have since found for good reason.
I've already had some second thoughts on taking the job now because of some incidents that have taken place since I started. Most recently some gang banger scum bag threatened to shoot one of my co workers with his own gun, right in court in front of the judge. It was all a verbal threat saying he would disarm him and do it. These people just don't care and they have little to no consequences for their behavior anymore.
I had started driving to get away from this crap and to be honest people in general. I've now gotten myself somewhat right back into it. The court house is still better than the street but the street is right outside. The same people causing trouble out there end up in the courthouse. Along with their friends and family members.
Going to wait awhile longer and see how it goes but you guys could see me back out there sometime.CaptainDaveG, dwells40, MIT and 1 other person Thank this. -
