This isn't a shipper/reciever but still a case of non-truckers showing kindness & generosity towards truckers. Hope it's OK to post this here- I want to encourage anybody who may be in the area to patronize the Quality Truck Wash in LeMars, IA (in the industrial park).

My husband got stuck in the big Christmas blizzard this year- he volunteered to work the holidays since the company offers holiday bonuses.

Delivered fresh meat to Laurens, IA to the beef jerky plant on Christmas Eve, and just barely made it to LeMars, IA that night to get his truck washed out. It was too late for the guy to come out & do it that night- though he DID come out to help my husband find the place (snow drifts everywhere, no street markings). Guy said he'd be back early Christmas morning after the kids opened their presents. The guy being willing to work on Christmas is above-and-beyond in the first place- but that's not the best part.

Christmas morning came and of course everything is covered in snow drifts....long story short he was trying to back up to the wash bay & ended up getting hopelessly stuck in a big snow drift. Wash guy really couldn't do much about it, plus he had some kind of family get-together to attend....said the boss would be back that afternoon to help un-stick him.

Well, husband didn't have any food on his truck. I told him when he was on his way up from TX that we were in for a whopper & he needed to buy some tuna & crackers or something, but he was trying to hurry & make it to deliver before the weather hit. So he didn't listen to me & didn't have anything to eat. I felt bad for him- especially since I'm only 120 or so miles away in eastern SD and couldn't do anything to help (snowed in).

About an hour later, the wash guy shows back up with his family in the car- handed my husband a big bag FULL of food. Sandwiches, snacks, sweets- you name it. (The bag said "Let it snow!" on it...ha ha). Husband said it nearly brought tears to his eyes. Little gestures of generosity & kindness can make all the difference to somebody stuck away from home on Christmas.

I wish I could go out there & give that guy a hug for treating my husband kindly on Christmas, but I figured I'd post here & tell other drivers what happened, so maybe if any of you are ever in LeMars, IA and need a truck or trailer wash, go give these people your business!!

    Ducks Thanks this.

Okay, yeah I just realized I should have posted this in the 'truck stops here' section. Any moderator care to move it or is there a way to do it myself?
