I want to address some of the insurance comments made in this thread. @Ridgeline is 100% right with regard to his insurance. The thing is almost all the large 1000+ truck carriers would go out of business if they had to depend on an insurance carrier to underwrite their liability. This is why they self underwrite and use an insurance company to administer the coverage to satisfy federal and state law. Most carriers have to post millions of dollars into escrow accounts. This is how the megas get by with putting a driver with a ticket like this on the road. Getting a ticket for 15+ over is NOT a career killer. I spoke to a good friend that has over 20 years in the Crete safety dept about this some time ago. This person told me at least once a month they are sending a letter or otherwise letting one of their drivers know they need to come in for a chat! Some people that make these comments like you get a 15+ ticket and you will lose your job etc, are not right the majority of the time. A 15+ over ticket is NOT part of table 1 of 383.51 and it is only part of table 2 IF done again within 3 years!

Somebody like @Ridgeline will be forced to make a decision about the continued employment of such a driver because of insurance reasons. A mega in almost every situation is either going to give the driver enough rope to hang themselves OR attempt an intervention to make sure said driver fully understands a 2nd conviction means a 60-day suspension of the CDL and because of this most likely loss of job!

A lot of drivers don't really follow the rules set out in 383.31 (b) because they either have not been taught this, or they have been told to not worry about this because of 383.31 (d). A careful read of 383.31 (d) will show this employer notification is still required. I know several people that run safety depts or are actually fleet owners that will place a warning letter in the driver's main file for not following 383.31 (b). They know this because they comply with 391.25!

To stave off the inevitable reply that goes something like this! It ONLY means convictions! I know this! Just getting a ticket does not activate YOUR requirements under 383.31 (b). A conviction though sure as heck does!

The system of traffic citation is in flux now. Tickets at first were about traffic safety. Officers alone gave out tickets, and there was a court process to make sure that criminal law procedures were being followed.
Tickets that go on your record are the last remnants of a dying system today. Citations are now going civil. You were unfortunate enough to get a legacy ticket by an actual human officer. In many municipalities today, citation devices simply cite drivers for going 15, 20, or more miles per hour over the speed limits and then send them a bill. One can get any number of these tickets—perhaps ten of them—and still have a perfect driving record. Rate of speed would not matter either. You could be 60 over and still pay the same fine and get nothing on your license. This is clear evidence that ticketing is simply a money grab.
Driving for a company today, you'll get fined civil for going over, from your qualcom citation device in your window. The fine is disguised as a rejected safety bonus. Same thing, different way of packaging it.

I can't link to a source, but as I understand it in some states some cases are considered infractions that are also called civil cases. This threw me for a loop a few years ago when I first heard of "civil" tickets. As I am not an Attorney I won't try to explain all of this as I don't really understand most of it either.

I wasn't speaking to you anyway. Why on earth would I waste all that time on a complete stranger that just comes up to me demanding that I do all that work for him without even specifying what exactly he wants? But thanks for warning me about you. I'll try to avoid actually initiating talking to you in the future even for a first time. To that end, I'll just put you on "ignore" since the reply is so ignorant.
If I choose to reply to anyone else here, or if they reply to me with some level of sincerity, I'll always source specific examples. Such as if I say that only 2.5% of deaths are caused by exceeding speed limits and running red lights in my state, I can refer to the official state statistic. But I'm not going to deal with "I disagree with stuff you said, so show me references to stuff". That's just too dumb for a legal writer holding a master's degree.

Most of the time it's stuff like red light cameras that are a civil "fine". I found a list of states automatic ticking laws and some do list it as only a civil fine or even not enforceable.

He specified he wants you to name your sources.

You want a long protracted fruitcake response?

A lot of fluff to divert from the bottom line, doesn't change the bottom line.

If you get a ticket from DPS even in your fruitcake part of the woods, you have a criminal proceeding on your hands, even be it an infraction or misdemeanor.

So whatever law school you went to, you should ask for a refund.

So a hundred bucks a month is a huge deal to guys with a gazillion trucks? IDK I mean 2 trucks 1 driver a 20 over and mine went up a hundred bucks at renewal. At one time my DL was maxed out. As in 1 11-15 over 2 1-10 over and a lane violation 215 more per month. I realize with 10 drivers in that shape that’s a lot of money but 1.........
