I haul flatbed freight and have a quote from progressive that I can live with. When I get my policy I see they have steel listed instead of metals all kinds. They have lumber and machinery also and then “other Miscellaneous.” Now Will other Miscellaneous cover aluminum as I haul aluminum coils a lot or do I need to call them back and get very specific with them? We all know how insurance companies will be in the case of a claim. Just looking for opinions from you guys that have been doing this on your own.

I would just call them for clarification. Atleast that way you are getting info from them.

Always always call the insurance company and double-check with them triple check with them make sure anything that you are hauling is covered. Also make sure that the Commodities that you are hauling are listed for FMCSA.
With that being said when I inquired about pulling a low bed they pretty much had told me all of that is kind of group together like lowbed Machinery flatbed Steel Etc but call them and triple check and make sure that you're covered.bamanation Thanks this. -

Maybe just switch it to freight of all kinds so you don’t have to worry about it? You’ll make more money feeling the freedom to haul anything. IMO.

It's easy to call Progressive and change what you're rated for as well. I've done it several times and never had any issues.

Just trying to cover myself. Talking with progressive I asked them to list metals all kinds. After getting a definition of what a metal is. According to progressive Aluminum isn’t defined as a metal. But they have assured me that what is listed is nothing but what I will be hauling mostly. They were clear that I’m over thinking it and I’m covered. Aside from what would be your normal exclusions. Never knew raw copper would be excluded but I don’t haul that anyway I was surprised by that though.
