The filter is available through CAT. Its pretty simple to install. After doing mine and seeing the results I would look into the oil catch can the Bruce sells at Pittsburgh Power. The CAT filter has a element that has to be changed every so often and I have not really seen a difference in my oil consupstion.

Did switching to Delvac change anything at all?

When I talked to a Schaeffer rep last summer, he said that Shell did not improve their base oil when the designation changed in '07, though Mobil did. Then again, it was a Schaeffer rep wanting me to buy his stuff.;)

No it did'nt change. So after 40000 miles I went back to Rotella, since I have been using it the past 20 yrs with no oil related issue. But I have installed a Spinner II and will now go 10000 miles before needing a gallon.

I used it. It is thicker which isn't good for fuel millage. Think it's 15w-50

The filter sort of helps with blowby, but it doesn't cure the oil mist totally. The steel mesh filter still needs changed every so often and takes up even more room on a already crowded engine compartment.

Why change filter? Just clean with diesel fuel and replace
