My Dad has his cdl A he’s been driving for 31 years and he has his own truck. I just got my cdl permit. My question is can we drive together as a team while I have my permit? And if so do I have my own hours of drive time? He gets 11 and I get 11 or can we only drive on his time?
Help. I have my cdl permit

More experienced please correct me.
If you are on a permit the licensed operator is the supervising driver. Until you get yours you would be driving under his time. He is always to be alert and monitoring your driving and habits not in the bunk while you log miles.
This should be short and quick time with a veteran showing you the ropes. Get it done and take your test.feldsforever Thanks this. -
just go get a road test with his truck.feldsforever Thanks this. -
Probably the bigger problem is his insurance would not allow it or it would expensive. Some of the mega trucking companies are self insured for the first 1 million dollars. So any accidents or truck damage from new drivers they pay themselves.
