+1 using a fax to Email Service has made a huge difference for me. Getting permits on the fly allowed me to drive instead of waiting on a fax, that right there is money in the bank.
I get my email on my blackberry, so I can check it on the fly. It sure makes things easy.
O/O that run RG trailers?

I know I am a little late to the party,But if you live in Sananna your in a great spot with the port being there. There are tons of oversize stuff comming out of there.I know I am down there 20-30 times a year to grab new cranes . Find some of the local brokers that book the OS/OD stuff.
And a e-fax # or other provider is a must.I have been sitting on the scales printing permits.Make sure the rate you quote has you DH miles in it as you won't have very good luck getting loaded back unless you are leased to some HH outfit. Good luck

Thanks, for the tips guys. Im sure it will be helpful. Does anyone know any brokers in the savannah area?
-
Dont listen to what the idiots like TMC and the other mega companies are doing so far as rates go. They got big for a reason (cheap freight).
I pull either a 2 axle RGN or a 3 axle stretch RGN and do pretty good myself leased to a company.
Pick wisely and you will be fine.
I also run a printer in the truck, and my wife who stays at home handles the permit faxing/emailing to me.

Is anyone running c13 cat? With the R/G. I am looking at a 379 with a c13 any thoughts? It has a 10 speed with 3:55 I think will check and post tomorrow.
-
C13 is a little small to be pulling oversize loads with and your gonna want at least a 13 speed
-
That may be ok for doing local stuff but for otr you are gonna want a bunch more HP and gears
I run a 550 with a 18 spd with 411 rears and there a bunch of times I wish I had about 200 more hp -
The guys hauling freight out of the port of Savannah, are you getting the loads off of a load board. Or using brokers?

how do the annual permits work after reading the georgia website it sounds like you will need more that one. my questin is are they good for everything within their limits and with them do the holiday/ and curfews still apply? and also can you get them for more than one state.
Thanks. -
Annual permits are good for the weight and sizes listed on the permit. All the curfews, holiday and hours of operation still apply. In Georgia you also need a permit for the yellow beacon. I dont have a Ga. annual but do have the IA and UT annual
mastllc Thanks this.
