"I was not responsible enough to carry a firearm so most people are not"
That's just completely false and detached from reality. You really think the people who are carrying firearms legally and not already engaged in illegal activity are the ones doing the shooting? Absolutely not.

Infact if you look at the data you'll see one group that is overall 2 times more likely to be involved in firearm violence per 100K but are only a small percentage of the population at large. In some places like my state it's almost 5x more likely to be involved in a firearm related homicide.

The point, legal firearm owners are not going to run around blasting it out on the streets. Despite your ideas.

My mother defended herself three times with a firearm in her life time. Once as a little girl in SF with a guy trying to come in a window. Another as a young woman riding horses with a friend in the Santa Cruz hills and finally in Castro Valley when I guy was trying to open the door. NOT ONCE did she need to shoot the guy. The mere fact she had a firearm and was willing to use it was enough to scare them away.

Areas with high legal gun ownership has less crime. That's a simple fact and easy to google.
It is a fallacy that if law abiding people were allowed to carry there would be more shootings.

The amount of unprovoked brutal attacks is like it's never been before. Saying that "Well I never needed a gun" is being ignorant of the realities of today.

500,000-2,000,000 lawful uses of a firearm in America a year.

Different states have different laws and we pass through many states. If you’re a company driver, most companies will prohibit you from carrying a firearm. This question came up on this form a while back. In fact a number of times. The consensus is, keep your mouth shut, hide the gun where only you can find it and forget about it. Or, just don’t carry one at all. Get yourself a flamethrower any unwelcome guests try to get through your door, the minute they break that glass , fire away!

First was a working class area in SF, mid to late 1950s, Santa Cruz in the 1960s and Castro Valley was early 2000 in a wealthy area. Ma had an interesting life but it also shows it can happen anywhere.

I used to walk were ever I wanted. I'm 6' 1" and was muscular. I didn't cause trouble and never had a problem. Now I'm old and fat:oops: and thugs are hurting people just to hurt someone. I don't heal up like I used to and I'll be ###### if I'll be hurt for someone's amusement.
I abhor violence but recognize the need to be capable of it when necessary.
