Fed Ex contractors have had them since 2017. I would assume all companies will have them eventually with the push from insurance companies. My small sized grocery delivery company is getting them too. Be interesting to see if the current supposed river shortage has any affect on this, I predict not.
what ltl companies don't have camera's in the truck?

I actually don’t mind them. I prefer facing outward only, but if you’re doing your job there’s not really anything to worry about.
I’m against inward cameras for OTR drivers. Too much invasion of privacy for someone basically living in an truck; who know who’s watching you from the other side of that camera. Probably the chineseTexas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
2018, Greensboro, NC., working thru a Driver Service, "assigned" to Harris-Teeter D. C.
ALL NEW VOLVO TRACTORS had both Forward & Driver Facing Cameras.
Driver Facing Camera, then, in easily defeated location by lowering Visor on Passenger & Driver sides without diminishing Driver forward sighting.
Other defeat was a Bandana.
Driver Facing Camera "alerted" dispatch twice (on 1 run to/from Fredericksburg, VA.) that, while driving, I was "talking on a non hand held device with a Bluetooth Headset"!
Company stated "Drivers NOT ALLOWED to talk on phone while Driving AND Drivers NOT ALLOWED to consume Food and/or Drink except when Parked"!
Switcher Trucks were spooky as well excessively worn out yet no Driver Watching Cameras, in '18.
So I ceased Road Routes.
I can easily see Cameras installed to watch otherwise "questionable drivers", but NOT PROFESSIONAL, NO PROBLEM(S) DRIVERS!!
CHEERS!!JadeLove Thanks this. -
Cameras are officially back on at aaa cooper.
Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
Do you mean on all the time, or only when triggered?
-
They record 24/7 regardless ifthe truck is on or not. Management only gets an alert for a driver-couching when the G-sensor sensor gets activated. But it’s recording 24/7/365
Copy Cat Thanks this. -
I had one of those so-called “coaching” sessions last week for rolling through a stop sign at 3 mph in an industrial park with nobody coming.
I got back friday and was about to punch out only to have one of the office idiots come running and say “I have to show you this”.
I saw the video, busted out laughing, and went home.ghostcookie, N00bLaLoosh and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
Central Transport. LOL

firsthand from drivers that work there. Not a rumor. Old trucks are being retrofitted unless they are at their mileage wall and about to be pulled from service and sold.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

I don’t know how any driver can say they like or don’t mind driver facing cameras.
If you are rear ended or anything like that the lawyers go through it and try to find anything to put the blame on you. It could be something as routine as changing radio stations and they’ll say you were distracted.snowman1980, ozzyoztrucker, Gearjammin' Penguin and 1 other person Thank this.
