Is CO-159/NM-522 to US-64 OK or do you need to take US-285 to US-64? I'm guessing both are OK but Rand McNally doesn't show them as highlighted truck routes.

That route should be fine. I have property on 159 that I take the truck and trailer to sometimes. I haven't taken the 522 south from Questa, but I have taken 38 and 64 to Angel Fire and Raton. Just keep an eye out for wild horses crossing the road on 159 south of San Luis.
