Lets be fair, that only works for fresh scuffs and people pulling dedicated trailers.
Also doesnt really account for say my current trailer
Ive been running the tires that had obvious hits on the sidewall for 6 months, my bday present is going to be the remaining 6 and a dump valve (last fri hit a rougher curb than i thought it was) does that one trailer tire hit in the past week make me a problem child that cant drive compared to 0 serious curbings in the past 4 years?
I didn't know running over a curb counts as a preventable accident

I've been trucking for 80 years and never hit a curb, fire this rookie. Just kidding it's all bs man and your company sucks.
Shackdaddy Thanks this. -
everything else you said tend to agree with.
I had drivers who were so destructive to tires, they had to leave.
But then I have a majority of drivers who get 175k out of a set with no problems at all.
I try to instill in the drivers time is money, downtime costs them as much as it costs me so take care of the equipment.GreenPete359 and REO6205 Thank this. -

there’s a truck stop near me that I worked at for a while , and the way the entrance is designed , every single truck that turns in runs over the curb
the sidewalk is simply not radiused properly for big trucks .
the only way to turn off the main highway onto the access road is to swing into the oncoming lane on the access road , which is always full of trucks waiting to turn left to get back to the interstate
The concrete apron on the inside of the turn is a curb and sidewalk , not an extension for the trailer tires. The state and the truck stop had all the room in the world to radius the turn . But evidently none of the genius engineers that built the intersection had any idea that big trucks would be turning into ,,,, a truck stop ! .Last edited: Oct 21, 2021

I’m a LTL driver in Houston. We have no real zoning laws here. I deliver to warehouses and businesses in residential neighborhoods with mailboxes across the street from the dock.
I’ve lost count how many curbs I’ve hit.
Sometimes it’s either the curb or the ditch so I take the curb to avoid the ditch.
Sometimes on tight turns I either gotta hit the curb or the idiot in a 4 wheeler who wouldn’t give me room. So I hit the curb even if I’d like to plow over the 4 wheeler.
So obviously if you’re OTR you are on a lot of straight highway and do little city driving, so I certainly hope you’re not nailing as many curbs as I’ve had to.
I’ve never popped a tire on a curb.njjonesdfw Thanks this.
