Compare it to a known good one or have someone drive it to confirm its normal. Turbo can sound noisy at times and back pressure during idle warm up is normal. Turbo is also used to generate heat for regeneration and engine braking. I would say its normal, but have someone confirm.
Did you find any leaks? Any other performance complaints, or runs good?
It got a little cold out and my isx15 is whistling. Is this normal?

I found no leaks and it drives perfect. No complaints. It's 12 years newer than the newest truck I ever had before and it is quite smooth and powerful. And the cab is bigger than a Honda civic. I hav a kw w900 and Pete 357 and this new truck is replacing a Pete 379. This cab is enormous in comparison and I don't want to damage it through ignorance, so thank you very much for your time.
Goodysnap Thanks this. -
Some engines have "warmup valves" that block the exhaust to help heat up the engine at idle. Similar to the kind of things that cars had, back when they had carburetors. When it's on, there is a definite whistle.

ISX engines use the Turbocharger for warm up and regeneration. This may be what the OP is hearing that he is not use too.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
